In Naskat both the white layers (made up of malai) had different tastes. The cream in between both the layers differentiated its taste. Garnished with silver leaf (varak) and amlond (badam). It was good, not too sweet. The chilled cham-cham was sweet, soft and blendid with taste of kesar. It was garnished with grated coconut and pistachio (pista).Bengali sweets are one of the blissful Indian desserts.
Nothing can beat the taste of their rasogullas. They do it authentic, bengali style. Just the right amount of fluffy and sweet. You cannot go wrong with their bengali sweets. Other milk based sweets are good as well and so are the savoury items like Khaman Dhokla. The taste has changed little over the years, and that is saying something given the fact that they are one of the oldest sweet shops in Mumbai. Definitely worth a small snack if you are in the area.
One of the oldest sweet shops of the city and you can get the typical Bengali rasugoolas that you get in Bengal here and also perhaps best in the city too They are definitely just right in terms of sweetness and softness and ensure that sometimes if you have a large order you call and book in for them!!Slurp slurp and eat them all here!
Rasgullas are the temptation here. This quaint little food place on busy Kalbadevi road is so so good that you can’t eat only one dish. If you have to resist eating sweets then don’t pass by this place.
These 5 stars only for the rasgullas. I just love the bhaishankars rasgullas. It’s a must have if u love those soft white magic balls. These rasgullas melt inside ur mouth instantly. Very light and fluffy.Go try it.
Desai Bhaishankar Gaurishankar jar is almost a neighbor to my father’s office and, sweets from their shop have been an integral and perennial fixture to all family celebrations and pujas. Be it the Dhanteras puja at office or the rakhi lunch at home. The rasgullas have to be from bhaishankar.Grand parents are always difficult to please, since the food tasted oh so different and pure back in their day. Bhaishankar is as old and has managed to win the favour of my grandparents. My grandmother says nothing can beat the rasgullas she makes but adds bhaishankar is as good as it gets.Maintaining and old world charm, in the heart of old Bombay’s kalbadevi area (bank opposite to the old Cotton exchange and walking distance from Mumbadevi temple) this place should not be missed by those wondering wanderers out exploring old Bombay. The picture is of 10 boxes of malai peda to be used for prashad during a puja tomorrow.
