My wife and I went to The Oriental Blossom for dinner after watching a play at NCPA. The ambience, furniture and interiors were like the Chinese restaurants of the old. We ordered a soup, an appetizer, dim sums, and mains. Soup: Imperial Hot and Soup (Crab)————————————–The soup tasted decent. There was enough mix of heat and sourness to keep my palate interested. The crab meat tasted good but not the freshest I have had. Overall a decent start.Appetizer: Peking Pomfret tossed with burnt garlic, chilli and spring onion————————————————————————The fish appetizer was a big let down. The batter of the fish left a weird texture on the tongue and tasted all wrong. The fish was just overcooked. As a result, the dish just did not make sense.Dim Sums: Prawn Dumpling Har Gow and Prawn Dumpling in Chilli Oil————————————————————————Both the dim sums were a big letdown. The perfect dim sums must have a crystal thin shiny wrap, wrapping the succulent meat. Neither of the dim sums had this. The Chilli Oil dumpling had a thick lumpy batter which did not feel right. The prawns inside were lumped out and difficult to separate the prawns from each other.The Prawns Har Gow had similar issues as the other dumpling, except that the wrap was not as thick. The wrap could still have been thinner. The prawns were cooked perfectly.I ordered only the prawn dumpling in chilli oil but the waiter served us a Har Gow. He promptly corrected and bought us the correct order after pointing it out. Clay Pot Rice (Part of their special menu then): Mixed Meat Clay Pot Rice———————————————————————The flavor of the pot rice is more of a North Chinese cuisine which is a complete no-no for me. North Chinese dishes usually lacks aromats and are bland. This pot rice falls under that genre. The dish lacked that oomph or fragrance even to stand by itself. All the meats were boiled perfectly and the rice had the flavor of the meat. It just wasn’t my cup of tea.While the food experience was certainly below par, the service was spot-on. We were always well attended yet not intruded. Overall, I would go with 3 out of 5 for The Oriental Blossom. Food did not shine for an otherwise, wonderful location.

We attended clay pot festival. They serve super yumm clay pots. Staff is super cooperative and humble. Place has amazing view. Portion size is sufficient. We loved the dessert here. We got a chance to meet the chef,what an humble man. Seating is spacious. Ambience is superb. We called forVegetarian mushroom clay pot with jasmine rice (5/5)Fried wanton (5/5)Honey tossed potato (5/5)Burnt garlic rice (5/5)veg dumplings (5/5)dark chocolate molten lava cake (5/5)cheese cake (5/5)Over all we had an amazing experience. Loved the service rendered by the staff and thank you Shreya for arranging such beautiful lunch.
