  We visited Restuarant Surmay Based in Pune , well we recieved immense pleasure in doing so , we tried many dishes such as Crab thali , crab sukkha , Surmay thali , Mackeral fried rechado , Pomfret rapped in Haldi leaf . Trust me you wouldn’t regret in doing so , perfect seafood restaurant in Pune . Must visit . The atmosphere is very decent perfectly suitable for family lunch.   Fish is love and good seafood is therapy. Surmay is one such place which completes all your Indian style seafood cuisine cravings. I’m usually reluctant to eat seafood outside my residence for concerns of fresh catch and of course authentic taste but Surmay delivers good seafood close to my heart.Food-We started our day with a list of sea food starters. We wanted to try them all and we tried our best. We started with Surmai fry- the king fish. The portion size was huge. The place charges on the size of catch and if you are lucky then you get the biggest one out there and we were lucky to get a huge meaty size. Next, we tried the Paplet Reachado fry(Pomfret) and Bombli fry. The Reachado had the right tangy vinegary flavour mixed with spices and the Bombay duck (Bombil) was nicely flattened and crisp fried. Next on the tasting train was the Paplet Tandoori. The catch was huge and lumps of meat on both sides perfect for a tandoori fish dish. Then came the surprise dish. The Tisrya fry was the highlight. With its dry coconut stuffing, the taste was heavenly. I have had Clams so many times in my life but Surmay had me thinking about which one was the best I have ever had.Moving on to the mains was a task since we had our tummy full with so many starters. We ended up ordering mutton cafreal and Kolambi (prawns) sagoti curry. Mutton curry was thick and had dense black texture making it fit to be consumed with bhakri. We did so with Rice bhakri perfect for the seafood dishes. The Kolambi curry was Konkani style and had the dash of kokam in every bite.We also ordered their Surmai and Halva thali, The thali contains a decent portion of Surmai or Halwa, 3 chapati or rice bhakri, dry fish (sukat), and mackerel curry. Healthy and heavy enough for an individual like me. They offer Indrayani rice along with the thali which is a speciality rice for Pune region but we also ordered Prawns biryani to give us a helping of Biryani style caramelized rice.So much food and to help it we had Sol kadhi throughout. One of the creamiest sol kadhi I have ever had. Highly recommended.Service and Ambience-The service is standard. The fish preparation takes time and the staff informs you about the same in advance. The ambience is simple and classy. Well lit rooms, they have air-conditioned and normal seating rooms.Overall- Easy to locate on the Karve Road, Surmay is a good place to quench your fish cravings. Family or a bigger group can be easily accommodated. They also have a branch on Sinhagad road. Try their seafood if you crave for authentic Indian food.

  This is sea food special for all the sea food lovers. They serves amazing thali. We have ordered surmani thali ,fish thali , tastes so good . I can visit this place again .ambience is not that fancy. Service is quick.

  Dined at Surmay’s for lunch. Widely known for its seafood, we tried their Crab , Prawns, Surmai , Egg and Mutton Thali. (We were a group of 10 :p)All the thalis came with a serving of Bharis , Solkadi, Dry preparation, Curry Preparation and Indrayani Rice. The thali for one person is filling and well prepared food,not too spicy as well.Definitely recommend visiting this place if you enjoy seafood thalis.
