We all have dreams, but the passion and belief to turn it into reality is a tough nut to crack. Leaving a cushioned job for an uncertain future is not everyone’s cup of tea. Pallavi Sonawane just did that with her husband Atul Sonawane standing right beside her. The passion for food and love for everything konkan, gave birth to CT Point Konkan Cafe – a purely non-veg setup (sorry vegetarians kindly excuse). Seafood is the kingpin here (chicken is available on preorder). The vivid & perky yellow exterior welcomes you with open arms. The fairy lights, wooden benches, textured walls, quirky quotes, smell of fresh fish transports you to a seaside shack. Take a deep breath, close your eyes and you can hear the waves dancing on the sand. Oh! what a blessed life. The whiff of fried Mandeli brings you back. Rawa coated crunchy shallow fried mandeli is an #addictivestarter. These #crispydelights disappear in seconds. This was followed by Egg Koliwada. Surprised ?? *Metoo. Boiled eggs coated in light masala batter and deep fried. These are #perfecttimepass for the #inbetween times.Next came the Ole Bombil Crispy Fry. This is #everyone’sfavorite . Rich #creamydelight with #crispycoating, this one just #meltsinyourmouth.Prawn kharda was up next. Juicy succulent prawns cooked in a spicy mix of green chilli-garlic-coriander. #Bangonflavours spicy enough to give you a kick. This one is not for the# feeblehearted. #absolutedelight.Solkadi was a #refreshingchange. Fresh flavours, creamy with slight hints of chilly this one is a #crowdpleaser. The fish curry thali here is #totalvalueformoney. It has a whole bangda fry, rice, curry, shengdana chutney with salad. The bangda fry is #todiefor. I am not particularly fond of bangda (to dry for my taste) but the one served here had a bit of crispy skin and juicy soft flesh . Each bite was #ambrosial. The tadka of whole garlic, green chillies and curry leaves #sealedthedeal. This thali is an #absolutehit.I tried the sukkat bombil chutney for the first time and all I could think of was a bowl of pakhala (fermented rice) to go with this. Well I packed some for home to relish this chutney in peace. This #mouthwateringrelish goes with everything –right from papads to bhakri to rice. The surmai thali is a humongous one. This one needs a #hugeappetite. It consists of solkadi, surmai fry, surmai curry, prawn sukkat, bhakri, rice, papad, shengdana chutney, pickle, salad and ukadiche modak. The rawa coated deep fried surmai was #purebliss. The curry could have been more tangier. The sukkat was a #crunchydelight. The ukadichemodak was #mindblowing. Laden with home made ghee, this was an #orgasmicdelight. The #bestest I have ever had. It is made fresh everyday by Pallavi’s mom.#CTPointKonkanCafe is a cozy, homely place serving hygienic, fresh, homecooked Konkani food. Pallavi and Atul’s labour of love is a must visit place for all seafood lovers!!!
