I always want my food to be perfectly cooked, with flavors bursting inside my mouth and the visuals to be on point but sometimes it is very hard to find such perfection at a single place until NOW! Yes, this place will make you fall in love with the pretty ambience, the rooftop and the food over here is MUAHH! The place has nice vibes and the staff is very courteous, polite yet friendly. The bar looks very amazing with wide range of drinks available. They also have a sunset spot where candle light dinners can be arranged. How cool is that?Coming to the food part, we started off with some Appetizers -Hunan Babycorn-Spicy Cheesy Khaboos ( Authentic Greek flavor )-Malwani Sukkha Jhinga-Southern Thai Fried Seafood-Teriyaki Chicken ( A must try. So amazing )Soups-Roasted Pumpkin and Rosemary-Ajo Blanco ( just like cream of chicken but with alcohol in it )Mains-Thai Green Curry ( Soothing and yummy )-Moussaka ( something new yet very tasty. good option for vegetarians out there-Mushroom Trifolati ( Ohh it was so delicious )-Adana Kebab ( Nice kebab, good saffron rice. little flaw; dish felt too dry because kebab and rice don’t go together unless there is a gravy. for Indian palette. Desserts-Blueberry Cheesecake ( just melted in my mouth yumm )-Tiramisu ( classic one ) Moving to the drinks, we enjoyed quite a lot of drinks over hereCocktails -Desserted Dream-Heady Mix-Whiskey Sour ( all time fav )Saffron Infused Whiskey ( its worth a try. looks so beautiful )Mocktails-No Scotch Soda-Jamun Julep ( the specialty )Overall the food was amazing. Such a great experience. A must visit place for dates especially. Kothrud’s first rooftop restaurant with such great food worth every penny.Thank you for the hospitality.Food Blogger Rajat Koul
I visited Bacharika recently for dinner. It’s a beautiful rooftop in Kothrud and has a beautiful ambience! It has a rustic and raw look. Their menu is designed to highlight spices from different cuisines and I really think they’ve done a great job of incorporating that. Here’s what I tried here and really liked:Sour and Spice – a Whiskey based cocktail, with yuzu syrup, sour mix, egg white bitter, grapefruit, cinnamon stick and rosemary (the cinnamon stick is burned live on table to allow for the flavour to infuse into the drink)Heady Mix – a Vodka based cocktail with Pomegranate, star anise, basil leaves, aquafaba served in crushed ice (a great one if you like fruity cocktails, but I felt the ice could have been a little less since it dilutes the flavour of the spices when the ice melts)Soups:Ajo Blanco is one of the best soups I’ve had! It’s a Spanish Smoked Chicken and Almond soup with Brandy. The flavours of the smoked chicken and the creaminess of the soup make it the perfect bowl of warmth! For the vegetarians, I would recommend trying the Roasted Pumpkin and Rosemary soup.Appetizers:Nawabi Paneer Tikka has pieces of paneer sandwiched with Khoya, dry fruits andspices with a Mughlai marination. This was a really rich dish and you could taste that it was indeed a dish meant for royalty!Spicy Cheesy Khaboos – if you are cheese lover, you have to try this! The dish is made by stuffing small Pita breads with Spiced Cheese, and then the breads are grilled. The spicy cheese really adds a kick to the dish.Southern Thai Fried Seafood – a mix of different seafoof frief with garlic and lime in a Southern Thai styleParma Chicken – Chicken strips fried in Parmesan Panko Crumb with Aioli (i felt these were a bit dry on their own, but the dip served with it was definitely helpful in overcoming that)SALADSPalak aur Shakarkand Chaat – who knew spinach could taste so good?! This has Crisp fried Spinach leaves stacked on sweet potato with chutney and tamarind coulis – the best flavours of chaat elevated into a fine dish!Prawn Tikka Chaat – Tandoor grilled Prawns with Papdi and Mooli ki Chutney (trust me, you won’t even know its mooli)! They have done a great job of making each dish unique by highlighting the spices in it. I absolutely loved my meal here and I am definitely going back to try their mains and desserts soon.
Bacharika is the greek word for spice. The co owners of Bacharika wanted to base their theme on the historical spice route – and likewise the food you get here ranges from middle eastern cuisine to indian to european. This is actually the first rooftop in Kothrud – the ambience comes to life with candle lit tables all around the open air seating, the textured white walls and the raw bamboo lamps and such. A lot of thought has been put into the decor as well as the items on the menu. The menu is quite inspired and they use different spices even in the cocktails. For instance, my cocktail Sour and Spice was a concoction of whiskey, yuzu syrup, sour mix, bitter, egg white to give it froth. The garnish was a dehydrated grapefruit, and a cinnamon stick stuffed with a rosemary twig which was lit in front of me to really make the flavours infuse into the drink. If that sounds complicated, please note that the taste was extremely refreshing, spicy, sour and sweetish at the same time. It was a lovely drink. The mit meetha soda was a picturesque mocktail served in a copper martini glass – sour and tasty. Another mocktail, the jamun julep was quite nice as well. For starters we had two chaat items. The Prawn Tikka Chaat was superb with grilled masala prawns on a kadak puri topped off with a radish chutney which actually tasted way amazing compared to how it sounds. Palak aur shakarchand chaat sounded strange too but it was very well made – crisp spinach leaves stacked with your usual chaat items. Southern thai fried seafood was an assortment of kingfish, calamari and prawns all batter fried in thai spices – goes perfectly well with any drink. Spicy cheese khaboos was actually grilled pita breads stuffed with spiced cheese and veggies. Nawabi paneer tikka was actually as good as the non vegetarian starters, paneer was soft, the mughlai marination was spicy and clearly no food colouring was used. For mains, the moussaka we had was vegetarian with aubergines, tomato, potato and some more veggies and most importantly layers of cheese. This was unanimously one of the favourite dishes of the night. The Mushroom Trifolati reminded me a lot of stroganoff because of the herbed rice and yummy mushroom sauce. The Chermoula crusted Kingfish with red pepper harissa wasn’t my favourite due to the tough texture of the fish which I am personally not accustomed to. Scarparieollo was a wonderful grilled chicken with mushroom and white wine sauce. Last but not the least, the Adana Kebabs served on a bed of saffron rice was juicy, flavourful but not as tender as I would have liked. Dessert was a beautiful caramel cheesecake which was fluffy, not very gelatinous and just perfect and not too sweet, either. The caramel popcorn on top made for a great additional texture to it. The Tiramisu was also amazing because the sponge was soaked in a dark rum with spices infused in it. The rocky road mud pie was nice as well. Overall it is really an amazing place to go with your date, your family or whoever you want. In kothrud, I can say it’s the best place I’ve been to.
