Review No 596: I was back home in Mumbai recently and that usually means playing catch up with home errands. On a busy Mumbai evening, we were passing through the maddening crowd in Sakinaka and the aroma of fresh chicken and meat being roasted caught our attention. Snuggled up in a blink and you miss it shop was Deep Punjab Dhaba. The place opens only in the evening and from what we learnt, is usually sold out by 10pm. Ambience: With a very limited seating capacity, the ambience is anything but to write home about. Food: We ended up munching on a few items which were already up on the grill and hence meant less pit stop time for us. a. Chicken Kebab (3 pieces): Rs 180 incl. taxes: The Chicken Kebab were definitely made in house. The meat was softened nicely and the masalas which were used during the mixing too was not over the top. The Chicken Kebab was a great find. We should have tried it with roti etc as a combination. b. Prawns Koliwada: Rs 300 for 250gms: I love my share of the Prawns Koliwada. But this was not even close to what we have been accustomed to when we were growing up. Price: The total bill was not a big hit to the pocket. Service: Basic but prompt service. The Deep Punjab Dhaba was a good find in the mind-boggling rush. However, enhancements are needed in the menu if they are going to be reaching a spot where there is serpentine queue Food: 3.5/5 Price: 3.5/5 Service: 3/5 Ambience: 2.5/5 ***************** Overall: 3.12/5 (Rounding off to 3 as per the rating system on Zomato) P.S: I am pursuing an open issue ticket with Zomato as I am still having issues in uploading photos and reviews in tandem. Zomato support is still looking into it, per their reply on 17 Aug 2019. Pictures getting uploaded will be delayed.
