If you are reading this review, you (just like me) could not yet figure out the decent place to dine non veg. near Lonavala market. That’s strange for a place that boasts of the most popular weekend destination (hill station?) for Mumbaikars/Punekars.We selected this place for it’s ample 4 wheeler parking and appearance from outside. Don’t come in looking for any ambiance but they have ample sitting capacity. No AC section. We ordered-Chicken Patiala: It came as Chicken wrapped in Omelette laden with VERY thick (Note it’s in capital) red gravy that would refuse to flow no matter what. Well, the waiter warned us about it, but is that how it is supposed to be? Chicken was soft and passable but nothing great to write about taste!Veg Paneer Tikka: This was better than expectations. although the puree was bit salty.Jeera Rice: It was mundane mix of rice and cumin seeds with regular oiliness.Jowar Roti/Tandoor Roti: All of us have experienced those rigid tough rotis that crackle when you try to break. There you are! We immediately complained and they replaced the same with soft & hot roti this time. Jowar roti’s coldness was yelling at us that it wasn’t prepared on order.Fresh lime Soda: The savior you were, my friend!Mind you, all of above was served ‘lukewarm’. When you reach at a prime lunch time at a family restaurant that’s the minimum that you will ask for. All of this just doesn’t drill big hole in your pocket and they don’t charge any GST or service tax/ charge. With my experience of frequent escapades away from city I have learned it a tough way not to expect the same standards of food and service from the mid level restaurants at tourist locations but even to those benchmarks, this restaurants just about makes the cut. I am signing off here to continue my search for better dining restaurants in Lonavala, wish me luck!

The food, value for money, proximity to the main market, variety, service, everything is surprisingly good. If you are looking for ambience, this isn’t the place for you. But for a quick non veg meal, recommended. Hygiene is ok too.

Amrapali inn, a big restaurant located in Lonavla‘ main market and along Mumbai Pune highway serves veg as well as non veg dishes. Apart from restaurant it also has lodging boarding facility with AC and NON-AC rooms. We did not sit inside the restaurant but took parcel for ourselves. Chicken Hariyali tikka kebab and chicken angara kebab both were tasty and rightly packed with ample amount of onion and chutney as side eatables. The chicken was tasty but needed attention towards good roasting aswell. Chicken angara kebab had no added colour but roasting was less due to which while biting the pieces it was painful. Hariyali tikka kebab were well marinated and the taste of coriander and mint leaves was as expected. Chicken pieces were soft enough to be eaten! The people who are keen on having alcohol and need some amount of starters as chakna then Amrapali can be an option for you! Rates are more or less similar to other joints nearby. One can try and decide the rest!

Ambience of the hotel was good. Quick service. Ordered chicken lollipop, chicken Tikka masala. Chicken lollipop was not good, but Tikka masala was just mind blowing. Prices were little expensive since it is a tourist place.

Looking for a decent place to eat at Lonavala where the price is apt and there is value for your money. This is the place to be.The big board outside the restaurant calling out its name is impossible to miss when you are about to reach the main lonavala chowk.Even after browsing through Zomato, i could not conclude on a place to eat in Lonavala and hence, me and the missus decided to take a stroll and just pick a random restaurant. Yes, there was a great chance that we may have ended spending more for less but little did we know that we would stumble upon Aamrapali. We walked in to an nearly empty restaurant as it was already around 03.30 PM in the afternoon and with only a few tables occupied, we were already doubting our decision. But it was getting late for lunch and the mice in our bellies had started to roar rather than squeak. So, we decided to end our venture and just order. The Ambiance – 2.5/5 (Average)Despite having anything notable as an attraction, the place was clean, has a capacity to hold nearly 80+ guests and gave out a general feel of content. It was something you would not hate nor remember or would like to talk about. Quite simply, neutral. The Service – 4/5 (Good)Surprisingly, the staff was very attentive to our needs. We were presented with the menu quickly and the steward was suggestive of the menu. The food was brought to the table in a very acceptable time. Even post lunch the servers were courteous till we left the place. The Food – 3.5/5 (Good)We ordered 4 chapati which were soft and freshly made, 1 naan which remained soft throughout and was not doughy at the same time and Chicken Do Pyaza, which was sufficient for two with succulent pieces of chicken cooked in thick tomato gravy and twice the onions, which complemented the breads well. Not only that, we later order Chicken tandoori and Chicken Afgani the same night as a takeaway and were equally pleased with the texture of the meat. Both dishes were distinctly cooked, with the later being less spicy and had a tangier bite to it. Whereas the Chicken Tandoori was traditional in taste, with enough spices in the marinade to make it a wholesome meal for us.The Cost – 4/5 (Good)If you check out the prices of similar restaurants in Lonavala this by far was the most pocket friendly with the lunch costing us less than Rs 350 for 2 and dinner for one full and a half tandoori costing us around Rs 600.The Value for Money – 4/5 (Great)The food, the experience, the portion size were totally worth it. It was unexpectedly great.PROS – good food, VFM , cost and service.CONS -For this visit none.VERDICT -Do not hesitate to visit this place. I surely would love to come back to this place whenever I visit Lonavala and I hope that they keep up,if nothing else, the taste of the food. Until next time, this is Ayan’s food Shashtra signing off !! Peace out ! foodshashtra.wordpress.com
