Just besides RMall and bang on Ghodbunder Road, this is a huge place which serves some scrumptious food. The staff is courteous. The ambiance is simple and classy. Now coming to food we hadStrawberry DeliteMojitoVeg Wanton soupCorn fritterDimsumsChicken sizzlerOrange caramel custard Sizzling brownieVery pleasant dining experience. Especially the desserts, they were too good. Even the sauces served with dimsums were made inhouse.

Being an utmost seafood lover, I’m VERY aware of the freshness of fish and the likes. I can easily detect the smell of fish that has been sitting too long and unfortunately this was exactly what I’d caught. The place isn’t so bad to be honest. I like the layout spacing and natural lighting that flows through the windows. The menu had an impressive selection of seafood as well. We tried the potato leek shrimp soup and that was actually really well done which inclined us to try some more of the seafood. On the head server’s recommendation (despite having opted for a chicken sizzler), we ordered one of the prawn sizzler and one of the mixed seafood sizzler. Right off the bat, I could detect a faint smell of stale fish but it wasn’t very obvious so I dismissed it. The moment, however, I took a bite I could taste it vividly. It wasn’t fresh at all. The taste of the sauces in both the sizzlers were good but pretty much the same and they didn’t do enough to camouflage the strong taste of the fish that after a point I couldn’t bring myself to enjoy. The Creme Brûlée was another bit of disappointment. While the flavors were great and the portion was also fulfilling, the brûlée on top was not executed properly at all. What’s supposed to be a thin crisp layer of caramel that cracks at the slightest pressure, was in fact a thick coating of burnt caramel that refused to break even after repeatedly trying to crack it with the spoon. Even after we resorted to using hands, it wouldn’t budge and finally we had sticky chunks of sugar that were not a delight to eat at all. My only piece of advice for the team would be to be coherently versed with the menu. And have that communication with the waiting staff as well. There seems to be a lag and despite some of the flavors that hit the mark, the overall experience seems to have taken a hit on account of multiple hiccups across the service.

How many times have we seen good product being ruined by bad marketing!! Silver coin restaurant is the best example. Great food being ruined by bad experience due to mismanagement by untrained staff.A restauarant is not just the food it serves.. If that was the case, people would just have home delivery. Patrons visit a restauarant to have a good meal with nice ambience. Silver coin seemed to forget that aspect of it.Being located on the service road, valet parking cones in handy. We had booked a table beforehand and unfortunately the table was right in front of the galley space entrance.A special kudos for the waiter taking our orders for not leaving our side for even a single moment until when we actually needed him. As soon as the menu card was presented, the waiter was standing by to take order. We asked him to give us a few minutes but he wouldn’t budge! For soups, we ordered chicken badami shorba and spicy crab. Shorba was a little watery but still good. Spicy crab was just pure excellence. Mouthwateringly good. For starters, we ordered house special non veg platter recommended by the server and rumali khakra. when the menu says non veg platter, we generally expect atleast 2 types of meat i.e mutton and chicken but it was just chicken so in essence it was a chicken platter.. The tikka was fully burnt but the other meats were good and tender. The platter itself came almost after 50 minutes of soups. When asked, we were told there was a confusion in table numbers so our platter was sent to another table but if 2 tables ordered platter at the same time it still doesn’t justify one of them having to wait almost an hour for it. During the wait, the servers would not come to the table no matter how many times we called but as soon as the dish arrived the server wouldnt leave our side asking how the food was. It became a bit annoying as he would not give us any privacy. For main course we ordered family favourite butter chicken, butter roti, butter nan, stuffed paratha and grilled chicken salad.Grilled salad had too much oil in it so the health freak patron in our group was not very happy about it but if you ask me, the salad was heavenly bliss. Butter chicken was standard boilerplate dish but the portion was way too small compared to other restaurants. Stuffed paratha was good. Needless to say, the main course came after 30 minutes wait.Lastly we ordered chicken tikka Biryani and sizzling walnut brownie for dessert. Biryani portion was again too small but tasty enough. Now, we booked the table for 9:30 and promptly arrived on time. By the time we finished Biryani it was 11:15 pm and we were waiting on the dessert. By 11:30, the small kid in our group started falling asleep. By 11:45 the brownie was still missing. When asked, the server started shouting obscenities to the galley staff from the restaurant floor and stomped into the kitchen. The next line of conversations and fights in the kitchen just pulled down all the stars for the restaurant. Suddenly it went from a elite fine dining restaurant to a shady dinky restaurant. The cherry on top of the inefficient serving team was we needed to give three reminders and 40 minutes of lead time for the servers to serve us a bisleri water bottle!! Absolutely crazy..I have never posted the final bill in my review but this time i am compelled to do so. The senior member in our group cancelled the dessert and asked for the bill instead. Since we had a very horrible service and missed orders, he categorically stated that he will not pay the service charge but the restaurant still added the service charge in the final bill. When confronted about it for 20 minutes, the servers acted like they had no idea what we are trying to say, intentionally acting dumb. Since it was already after midnight, we decided to leave without breaking our heads anymore.I would strongly suggest the management of silver coin to better train its servers. The food is absolutely supreme but such untrained and unprofessional service team will most definitely affect the patronage of the restaurant. I, for one, am not going back to this restaurant to hear profanities anymore. Maybe next time i will just take a parcel instead..
