#thaskathursday #foodtasting #supriyachaubal Nh37-Dhaba is scenic sprawling property, close to E-Square. Entry however is from Ashok Nagar, opposite ABIL property, University Road. Ample Parking inside the premises for vehicles. A well mannered server smiles and bending greets you. Urshing you to a wooden bridge, to the right of the bridge is a small pond with ducks and to the left a waterfall (very senic). Ahead are four to five spaced out large seating areas. The interiors are done with bamboo, grass, wood and stones. All outsourced from Assam, including the karigar who completed the work. Everything has a 1900 era look, done in a very classy manner. One section has a huge canopy, a roof with grass and bamboo, interiors have several teak wood tables & chairs. One side has open seating with plenty of plants and cool breeze, mother nature around you. Sturdy tables and chairs and fans everywhere. Some stone benches, swings to sit/hang around or take selfies. A wishing well and a Buddha Statue. Clean bathrooms. Warm lighting giving the entire place a serendipity. I have been here before, this property changed hands many a times, never got a chance again untill the invite. The current owner Karan Vaswani a hotelier, from Assam, he has a big team all from his state. It’s their 5+ yrs here. They usually serve Chinese, North Indian and Bengali food. A lot of Tandoor items. From the 15th of December they launched “The Assamese food festival and it is on untill the 16th of January 2020(may get extended). We were invited to taste this menu. Under the guidance of Monjeeta , she has selected the dishes, personally worked and trained the staff to showcase amazing creations of Assam that will be a treat to your stomach and heart as well. Starters : #Til_Diya_Murgir_Mangxho : Rustic and traditional recipe made with black sesame, spices and chicken finally cooked in a tandoor. The paste nicely coats the soft tender chicken, marinade was perfected. Thumbs up! #highlyrecommended Repeat of same version in Paneer which was called… #Til_Diya_Paneer_Tikka #highlyrecommended Both come with a mint and tomatoes chutney, please do try it. #Patot_Diya_Xoriyoh_Mass (Prawns) : A combination of spices, green chillies and mustard paste. Steamed in banana leaf. Bang on zing! Tickling taste buds.. Loved it! Prawns were soft, juicy yet crunchy. Tip: a squeeze of lime to tone down zing. #highlyrecommended MAINS : Veg #Aloo_Pitika : Finely chopped onions, mashed potatoes with mustard oil. Shaped like a ball. #comfortfood #siderwithmains #Begena_Bhaja : simple recipe with salt and turmeric. Yet addictive, u can’t stop at eating one #recommended #Aloo_Bhaja :A simple aloo (thinly sliced) sabji. Comfort food. #Dal : Paanch Foran(5spices) Dal . Very delicious and went well with all the above siders and steamed plain rice. Amazing! Non_veg Mains : #Maas’or_Tenga : a sweet, sour, tangy tomatoes based gravy with Paanch Foran which got soaked in by Roho fish pieces. The oomph and aah of all the dishes. Roho has plenty of thorns, barring that it was a lip smacking delight #nottobemissed #musthave #Sagolir_Mangxho : Mutton marinated in tea liquor, spices and smoked. One of the finest preparation I have had. #highlyrecommended #Kala_Soul (Black rice)Kheer : Kala soul or the forbidden rice, was served only to the princely people a century ago, as it was scarce produce and hence expensive. However now abundantly available. This Kheer is not too sweet, thick condensed milk, very rustic and flavorsome. No words just an amazing treat to ones soul. #highlyrecommended #musthave #Laal_Saah : black Assamese tea. Refreshing! We also tasted some desserts. Impressed. definitely worth indulging, pricing not high & portion size is huge. The Assamese dishes are also available à la carte. We all were in foodcoma, we took a tour around the premises, inside the kitchen area, storage area, package counter, all clean. No mosquito so no bites. Humble and attentive staff. Impressive. One amazing place that needs to be visited. Assamese food is very similar to many Indian recipes. Do try to visit untill the festival is on untill 16th Jan2020.

It’s really nice place with great ambiance. Very peaceful and attractive. Food quality is really nice and tasty. Specially chicken tandoori, which was amazing. They serves you tandoori sticks in one jar, with light burning coal in jar, that gives perfect grilled and smoky flavour to chicken. Main course was also tasty. Only blueberry cheese cake wasn’t that good. Service is good, polite staff. Overall its good choice to spend evening.Price- 4/5Food- 5/5Service- 4/5
Apart from the exotic tandoori chicken, everything else is an issue here. Ordinary service, below average butter chicken. The green chutney was better than tight and chewy butter chicken. Being at such an amazing location I expected a lot better.
