Definitely that one place which never disappoints is Gaavkari. Black Chicken/Mutton, Kharda, Dry Chicken/Mutton, the generosity of the thali is all about this place that can bring you back again and again. Authentic spices are used to make these Kolhapuri dishes and probably the only restaurant that hits right on the tastebuds without your stomach having to pay for it later. 10/10
Spur of the moment decision to go there for dinner. Had the mutton paya soup. Flavourful and more like a watery dal with mutton flavors. Enjoyable. Black mutton – the star of the evening. Intense flavors which lingered on the tongue, Mutton Loncha which was exactly as a loncha but somehow didn’t work that well for me. The disappointment was the mutton in sajuk toop. The masala was generic and the ghee flavors non existent. All in all a mixed bag. Would want to go back and test out other items. If one criticism can be made additionally is that the mutton pieces were too bony and took some effort but at that price point cannot complain.
We visited this place earlier this week for dinner. The location is not that great. We wanted the pomfret Thali unfortunately they did not have it. We ordered the Surmai Thali instead. The Thali did not have any vegetable in it and the overall Preety disappointing. As this place is know for it’s mutton we ordered the Gaavkari Special mutton Thali. The Mutton was cooked perfectly. The Tamda and Pandra rassa were awesome. Nothing like hot mutton broth. The Kheema was not up to the mark. The Mutton biryani was very good as well. Over all an average place might not visit it again.
my favourite place.. family restaurant.. must visit.. tambada pandhara awesome.. Good tasty typical Kolhapuri (Marathi local) food. Specially dryfry and kharada chicken etc. Nice atmosphere and Good service !!!!
