We were craving for some authetic malwani food which took us to Nav Chaitaniya. The ambience and service both good.We ordered a pomfret thali and a prawn fry thali which were both delicious along with sol kadhi. At Nav chaitaniya food takes u to the sea
I can tag this restaurant as the best restaurant for sea food in Mumbai. It had next level quality when it comes to the taste and flavour of each and every dish.Ambience is also great as yellow dim lights with wooden furniture and on one of the sides decorated with bamboo trunks for giving a charismatic touch. We Maharashtrians love eating in silver plates and they served typical marathi used utensils. And loved the menu also as it started with the description of the restaurant and how the food is made and their speciality dishes.Service was also too awesome ,very helpful and promptEnough of blabbering around on the ambience and all so let’s begin with the food dishes we had :-• chicken lollipop (5/5)(highly recommended)• Bombil fry (4/5)• Kothimbir wadi (4.5/5)(highly recommended)• Prawns bhujna (4.5/5)(highly recommended)• Komdi wade with chicken curry (3.5/5)• Chicken biryani (4.5/5)(Highly recommended)• Sol kadhi (4.5/5)(highly recommended)• Kharwas (5/5)(just loved it n again a highly recommended dish)Omg almost all my dishes became highly recommended from my side todayThink of the food den how it will be if I’m giving highly recommended to all of demLoved the lollipop and can tag one of the best lollipops i have ever had till now.Bombil fry was Cripsy from outside and soft from inside. For a typical marathi it was usual and same and nothing new in this dish. Now comes the one and only veg dish i tried over here which was Kothimbir wadi.Trust me before visiting here i loved this wadi nly from 1 place in the whole mumbai but now that has turned to 2 places as i liked the Kothimbir wadi served here as well.Prawns bhujna was too delicious in taste and had it with nachni chi bhakari and went well with it.Do try the prawns dish if you are a prawns lover and tell them to make it more spicy so that you can get more yummy taste of this dish.Chicken biryani was just fabulous and the chicken pieces were also soo tender and soft inside it.After eating all this you need some appetizer drink so solkadhi is the best rescue if asked to marathi person.I’m always fond of it as loving solkadhi from childhood.Kharwas again the same. Trust me I’m sharing my personal info here , recently like 1 week back nly my mom brought small box of kharwas and without telling anyone i ate all of it. That mad i am behind kharwas also,in local Mumbai language we call it bari also which we get on streets as well but quality matters rightI think i have covered with almost all the food dishes so directly jumping onto the last part of my review.Ratings time :-VFM – 4/5Food – 5/5Ambience – 4.5/5Interiors – 4/5Service – 5/5
We ordered the Crab Lollipop and Surmai Fish Thali. The Crab Lollipop was as expected, alright, good. (The crab meat is not fresh, it’s frozen, we knew that before placing the order )The Surmai Thali was atrocious. The fish curry was bland, the fish in the curry was at least 2 days old.The Surmai was Definitely not fresh. The Baingan Bharta was the most Bitter I’ve ever eaten. Left a dirty aftertaste. That Solkadi was just water and some coconut milk with coriander.Nav Chaitanya on a weekday was an absolute disaster. As someone who knows Konkan Coast food well, I would not recommend this place.
Malvani food is so loved my every Mumbaikar . And if you want to have Pure Malvani food it goes without saying it has to be Nav Chaitanya .The place was traditionally in dadar and they have opened their new outlet in versova. The place is a family restaurant with a fine dinning touch to it .The decor is simple but classy . The staff here are very quick with their service they suggest you the best combinations and they tell you the exact details about the dish so first time visitors you are going to fall in love with the place .Must try :1- Fried Surmai2- Crab Lollipop3- Kass Avala soda4- Kokoam soda5- Chaitanya Special Prawns thali .6- Chaitanya Special Chicken Thali7- Kakadecha Dhonda8- Nachni chi HalvaA special mention to kailash for being there and making our meal a delicious one .
Great ambience and serves great food. The service is really great. We had various Malvani dishes and loved all of them. If you love Nalani food you should definitely visit this place. Quality of food is good. It’s usually crowed still their service is very fast.
We had already tried the original Chaitanya in Dadar and we had to try the Andheri branch. We were super lucky this Sunday. We came at 2:20pm and put our names down for 3 adults and our 21month old daughter. We were lucky to be seated by 3pm yay!!!Staff is prompt, attentive and friendly. Place is relatively clean and lines move pretty fast.Food is lovely as always. Between us we shared:- tisray bhujane- bombil fry- bangda thali- special shrimp thali- crab thaliEverything was super fresh and delicious. Highly recommend the experience.
The essence of Maharashtrian food that has been thriving all these years giving a rich taste of spices and strong flavour, that dominates over any other cuisine providing a sense of comfort along with the burst of appetizing flavours, this is exactly what the restaurant offers you.Nav Chaitanya is the second outlet to formerly opened Chaitanya where the curation of dishes began originally. This outlet is located in Versova, Andheri West, right on Andheri link road. The restaurant has well furnished interiors, a fine-dine atmosphere, yellow lights and comfortable seating spaces, a generic decorum nothing much to compliment the cuisines offered by the place.Upon entering the seafood aroma along with the smells of spices being tossed hits you in the face, starting to tempt you instantly. The menu has a wide range of coastal food with brilliant delicacies providing modern touches making it a perfect combination of flavours.Solkadhi here, a famous maharashtrian beverage is a must have, spiced with cocnuter and tamarind this is thick and creamy to taste and serves as an excellent refreshment.Vangyache Kaap or fried brinjal slices and Shallow Fried Surmai or King Fish are some of the few appetizers that will make you lick your fingers. The crisp seasoned surface in each is extremely appetizing especially Vangyache Kaap which has shape flavours with melt in mouth texture as you bite in.Tandoori Pomfret, a modern preparation of fish rubbed with northern tandoori spices that gives a juicy flavours to the fish meat that has an extraordinary tender taste, this one’s definitely not to be missed on.Crab Thaali, this one is definitely something you can trust to keep you full and delighted. The thaali consists of a main crab curry, fried crab abdomen, solkadhi and two over vegetable curries. The crab curry is super delicious with the coconut flavour, strong seafood taste and a whole crab that has tender meat and to be extracted.Chicken Ani Vade is a classic coastal combination with chicken curry that is super appetizing and thick and spicy in flavour served along with vade which is a fried Maharashtrian bread meant to be had with chicken curry. To end the meal you can either drink up the Solkadhi which would actually be the better end to your meal, apart from that you get Maharashtras own Modak and Kharvas to delight yourself with. The restaurant is a great ride of Maharashtrian cuisine and coastal delicacies that will leave you absolutely delighted and satisfied.
