Chinese isn’t my favourite cuisine, but when there are guests at home and I can’t compromise on quantity and quality then it is my absolute go to. Strolling through my food gallery on Zomato just the way I would for online shopping I stumbled upon this near to 5 star serving restaurant and got all excited. It had my heart for two prime reasons.A: It was closer homeB: It had great ratings for a place that has just come up.I went with my gut instinct and went on to order two gravy dishes as we already had prepared entrées and rice. I called for Chicken Shanghai and Lemon Coriander Chicken. Both the dishes came with zero gravy. Thankfully, Zomato has been real kind and credited the amount to my wallet to be used for my upcoming orders in the next 30 days, but the restaurant has had a complete goof up and I am super disappointed.Lemon Coriander Chicken: Tender pieces of chicken with no added preservatives, good usage of coriander, zesty flavour in every bite without the taste of any form of corn flour, which is absolutely amazing. It had say about 5-6 drops of water with zero taste in it which screwed up a gravy dish and made it into an appetizer. (5/5)Chicken Shanghai: Fresh pieces of bell peppers, mixed with dollops of garlic and a strong base of Schezwan sauce made for a wonderful dish. The chicken wasn’t as tender as the Lemon Coriander, was full of flavour, but left slightly raw that kinda irked me and my family. Chicken Shanghai gravy was as dry as a barren land in Shanghai, perhaps. (3/5)*Second order*Burnt Garlic Chicken: Beautiful texture and intense flavours. The garlic was strong and the gravy did not come with food colours and oodles of cornflour to make it thick, which I quite appreciate in Chinese cuisines. (4/5)Chicken Fried Rice: Long grained rice that smells amazing even before you’ve opened the box. Not as many chicken cubes you’d expect more of egg scramble and spring onion, but tasted as yummy as the picture you see. (4/5)Kimchi: Great taste, balanced portion of sauce to go with the fresh out of farm carrots and cabbage. But if I may, kimchi had more sauce in it than the actual gravy. And it was too tiny a portion to serve two gravy dishes. (4/5)Overall, the place is doing a fantastic job, but has gotten the order wrong and with quite a few spills on the second order. Moreover, the sauces given are just one packet of chilli sauce and one of soy. I was expecting gravy to go with my rice and received none. So we just ended up using the chilli sauce at home and other condiments and made do with what was before us. This is apart from being a wee bit embarrassed before the guests and trying to drown our embarrassment in the chulhu bhar gravy. Until then Bon Appétit fellow foodies!
