As long as I can remember there has always been a restaurant opposite Shiv Sena Bhavan, near Shivaji Park. What was formerly Chandragupta became China Bistro, and now its latest iteration is Tanatan. Both the previous versions of the eatery were impressive, and the menu of the current one was quite appealing, so we cabbed it out to have a quiet weekday lunch. We kicked off with cocktails and starters, Sharabi Kava and Zafraani Tangdi. The drink was the first to arrive, the whiskey concoction, in what looked a lot like test tubes, placed in dry ice, and the cinnamon stick set aflame to provide a smoky flavour to the spirit. While the overall taste was nice, I wish the bartender had been more generous with the kava, for it felt more like having just whiskey than a cocktail. The tangdis looked delicious, and so they were. They had to be with the amount of oil used, and the meat was very juicy too. Our next starter was Kozhi Ghee Roast, a delicacy from Mangalore. The chicken was partially shredded in cashew-nut gravy, having a sweetish after taste, and I really liked the flavour. Mexican Nasha was my next drink, a blend of tequila, kokum and agave extracts, the latter being a Mexican plant. The blood red cocktail was top notch, a hint of pepper and also sweetness due to agave, this must rank as one of the best tequila mashups I ever had. The third and last starter we had was Aamchi Tanatan Prawns, the only real letdown of our meal. The prawns were very size-able and deep fried, but the crust was all they had, which wasn’t particularly great. The prawns themselves were quite dry as well as stiff, I suggest giving this dish a miss. For mains we opted for Dilli Ki Galiyon Se, which was butter chicken and dal makhni with lachha paratha. All three components were yummy, the chicken being especially succulent, I recommend it to all the fans of North Indian fare. Lastly, we had Matka Rabdi Gulab Jamun, a personal favourite dessert. Served in a mud mini pot as the name suggests, the gulab jamun was more than warm and more than luscious but I wish the rabdi had been cold if not chilled. One factor that makes this dish so awesome is the contrast in the temperatures, and that was missing here. To sum up then, Tanatan gets quite a few things right and is worth at least one visit. It is on the pricier side, and not all the dishes have significant serving portions so not super value for money. The staff is attentive as well as informative, and I would like to particularly appreciate our attendant Vaibhav, who’s service was flawless. In my opinion, the food and the drinks need only minor tweaking for the most part, as I have mentioned above, and hopefully that will be the case when I visit next. Then I would not hesitate to give a higher rating, which Tanatan clearly has the potential for.
Loved the vibe here. The food is fantastic. The ambience is good and the live band performance was great.Tanatan Sangria is a must try in drinks. My recommendations for starters are, Raunake seekh and Chutney wala Tulsi Paneer. For mains, Chicken Biryani and Pahadganj wala Paneer are my favourites.Gulkand Cheesecake is a must in dessert.Looking forward to visiting this outlet again. Definitely recommend to visit this place.
Was simply my best eve with my pals and the twister cocktails simply rock the whole bar menu with so many selections over the course. The ambience is fantastic and lively thelive band rocked our night. The starters tasted amazing and were presented in an interesting manner. The quantity of all the starters are good enough for 3 people. Coming to the main course, the chicken biryani was amazing! We ordered 2 desserts ,cheesecake and gulab jamun with rabdi, the rabdi was heavenly. We also ordered cocktails, sharabi kanwa and mexican nasha ,the presentation was lovely and as for the taste, sharabi kawa was better.

Had heard a lot about their outlet in Juhu so made most of an opportunity to visit the one in Dadar. The outside sitting area has a better cool vibe than the inside..here the interior seems too cramped.Food was more of Indian Cuisine. Tried the Khow Suey Samosa -the presentation was very appealing though it had a very strong lemon grass flavour. The chicken and Kali dal were nice but nothing extraordinary. An ok experience.
