What should we have for lunch?? I asked my buddy while studying together. Finding options on Zomato near us. I stumbled upon this low rated restaurant. My buddy told me it’s a bar. And come on we know bars can whip up extremely amazing food. So ditching all our regular options we headed to Amrutha. Once this was a very famous restaurant for families, now you will see men sitting alone with beer or whiskey and their choice of chakhna. My buddy Suyog Narvekar told me that this place was not like this when he had come years ago. The waiter came with two glasses with stirrers in each of them assuming we are here on a hot afternoon like others to have a drink. But we politely told him sorry khaana chahiye.Browsing through the menu we zeroed down on Patiala Chicken and Butter Rotis and Butter Naan Our intention was to have a quick lunch and bouce back to study asap. We were missing the drinks and tempted to have a cold beer but resisted. After waiting for half an hour in that afternoon heat, hunger, a snacking on masala papad and unlimited curses flying out of our mouths for late service came the much waited chicken patiala with roti and naan smothered with yummy butter. This chicken Patiala seemed worth waiting with chicken kheema stuffed abundantly inside an omelette, more chicken kheema and gravy on top of the stuffed Omelette and boiled egg slices decorated the dish fabulously. Mouthwatering was what it was. Me and my friend dug in like crazy and finished it completely within a jiffy. Not breaking sweat and hogging only to be interrupted with pauses of praises for the lovely food on our table.I have not left a restaurant as satisfied as this in a long time. For me I give this restaurant a 4 solely for the food. The slow service is a bummer and the ambience is not for family (strict disclaimer there). I will sure order from here in future or go with my friends for a drink.
This is probably the best bar in the locality. Considered to be the one stop shop for all the alcohol lovers in the area, this place offers the perfect traditional ambience of a good bar. Food service is above average.
i went to this place a month back. While it is true that the ambiance is not good for families but the food is awesome. I took a parcel of Mutton biryani and Chicken crispy which was awesome.
Hotel Amrutha established almost 2 decades ago by the Shetty family was one of the finest family restaurants back then. With amazing food, good service and nice ambiance it was a favorite amongst the locals. But unfortunately now its just a boozers and smokers paradise , with some of the lowest booze rates it manages to do a good business. The only good thing that they have done is that the cooks have been retained all these years, so the food is still worth having although take away or ordering parcel is the only worth option (avoid eating at the hotel due to overall ambiance).Whether its North Indian or Indo-Chinese most of the dishes are nice enough, although you need to tell them to go easy on the oil. Among the soups the usual Manchow, hot n sour or sweet corn veg/chicken are good. For the mains can have the simply amazing dal tadka (perfectly cooked yellow dal with right amount of spices, butter and Aroma). The paneer dishes are well done especially paneer tikka masala or any paneer Chinese dish.Veg or chicken Makhanwala is almost always finely done with the right balance of rich gravy and savoriness. Tandoor Roti’s or paratha are firm, soft but not chewy and go well with all gravy dishes.Biryanis are okayish so steam rice or veg fried rice are very good options instead.Overall food has always been satisfactory all these years but only as take away. The rating is for food only.
The food here is good especially the Chicken Mughlai. The quantity is perfect for 2 people. The down side here is that the Roti’s are extremely expensive. The last time I had there about 3 years ago they were priced at Rs. 18 per roti. And I need atleast 4 Roti’s for my meal. For this class of restaurant Rs. 18 for a plain tandoor roti is too expensive. After that I’ve never been here to eat fearing the price hike. Other than that the food here is good. One can ask for a takeaway of the subzi and manage your own roti from somewhere else.
You may feel that it’s not a place for family but believe me their food is really good. Try Khicha a type of papad one of my favourite. There prawns koliwad is delicious. Biryani is also very good with a good quantity. As a ambience I will say they need to improve. It’s actually a crowds place to sit. But there is family room for food lovers.
