Awsum experience and taste of food is good as well the food was absolutely wonderful, from preparation to presentation, very pleasing. We especially enjoyed the special bar the cheese cubes was great (even took photos so we could try to replicate at home).
Food- Average taste nothing to write home about. People go here just for booze since the place is located at the busy Gandhinagar junction.Ambience- Nothing , not needed in such a place.Service- Fast. Go drink and leave.
Simple place for simple evening. No frills. Crowded mostly. Roof top (covered) is better than below. Food is workable. No or hardly any music. Proximity to EEH makes it accessible for the travelling crowd.
The rating is solely on the basis on food. This place is shady AF. So if you haven’t been into such a place before then this is definitely not a place for you. But in fact it is these kind of places which serves finger licking food. Their suka chicken is awesome. Prices are definitely below what we are used to and quantity is more than sufficient.
In Vikhroli, where I work, there are a lot of lunch options. There is a variety of food available on the roadside, in shacks, small eateries, restaurants, etc. It is a boon for people who don’t get food from home and are not fussy about what they eat. I don’t and I am not. There are two important parameters that I divide the places in – whether I get to sit or not and whether the place serves non-vegetarian food or not. So there are four distinct types then – Non-veg with seatingNon-veg without seatingVeg with seatingVeg without seatingThis is pretty much the order of preference as well. In the first category, we have only two places around my office and this externally ramshackle looking place is one of them. However, despite the fact that this place is decrepit-looking and does not even have an enviable façade or ambience, what with wooden tables and benches, reminiscent of an Udupi restaurant of yore and no air-conditioning, we find ourselves gravitating towards this place quite often. So in the few visits that we have paid to this place, here’s a lowdown of the food we have eaten here: CHICKEN MASALA BONELESS: This is a nicely flavoured, thick gravy, red dish, that immediately whets the appetite with its look and aroma. Mildly spiced, with chicken that was all but once adequately cooked (just a tad undercooked once), and sufficient in quantity to be real value for money, this is one of my favourite dishes here. CHICKEN KOLHAPURI: My colleague loves pungent (teekha) food as much as I do and to get a little more bang from our food, we called for this once. It wasn’t as teekha as we would have liked it to be, but I guess that is almost always to suit the general palate and not just pander to the fancies of weirdos like me, who prefer Bhoot Jolokia to ketchup any day. This has a different gravy, a little more oil and more acerbity. But this was not available as boneless fare, which was a bummer.MUTTON MASALA: This is another well-made dish and it surprises me, that a small, relatively obscure place like this has some really nice food. Actually, it doesn’t surprise me, really! It IS these small places that perhaps serve some of the best food. The mutton was tender enough and there was enough meat on the bones (once again, this wasn’t a boneless dish). But this was good and only the thought of sullying my fingers stops me from calling for this dish again. PRAWNS MASALA: The deterrent here is the AS PER SIZE phrase in place of the rate mentioned but my dish cost me a mere 190 INR. Which was a steal considering the quantity, the freshness of the prawns, the preparation and the overall taste. The drinks are also moderately priced, which is also the reason why one sees a great many people consuming alcohol during lunch time here. There are many more items on the menu, but not all of them are available all the time. So there have been times when a dish that I have asked for has not been available. But, whatever is available is good enough too.So, bottom line, good taste, good quantity and value for money on both food and alcohol. Ambience…err never mind.
The restaurant is located near Gandhi Nagar Signal on LBS marg, It has 3 types of seating, Non Ac seating, Ac Seating and then roof top seating. The place is frequently visited by boozers. There was a time when we used to regularly order food from here. They used to deliver even if you order one thing, and whenever they cannot deliver they were clear to say that. They used to serve extremely good and thick tomato soup, nice soft and well cooked chicken lollypop. However with these tiny owl and food panda we have stopped ordering from here. Still the food is as tasty as it used to be.Good place for home delivery.
