Sometimes it is just wonderful how we end up getting some of the best experiences in the least expected places. And that is exactly what happened when I visited this Restaurant named “MASAKHA”.The name MASAKHA smartly and literally translates to “Eat Fish” in Marathi and believe me that is exactly what you should be doing here. If you do enjoy eating Sea Food and are not really content with most Restaurant serving it in the city, my advice is give this place a try I am sure you would not be disappointed. With its open air seating area it adds a perfect atmosphere for both Lunch and Dinner options and to top it up the place has its own Bar and for the non-alcoholics out there the Mocktails are obviously worth your money. What I tried here and how I found it ?Well, yes lets talk about that now :Mocktails :Guava Merry : Super Refreshing with a tangy punch, not too sweet, not too salty. Just about the way I like it.Virgin Mojito : This is one of my all-time favourites and if you not to huge on experimenting, I would recommend you go for this classic.Berry Sweetheart/ Fruit Punch : Both these fruit based drinks are sweet and apt to go with almost all the dishes you will try here.Appetizers:Schezwan Prawns / Chicken 65 : If you are the type that enjoys spicy dishes above all and love really hot flavour. Then these are the starters for you. The burst of flavour here will be all your money.Baby Surmai Tandoor / Veg Malaysian / Paneer Kebabs : For those who need their spicy just right and enjoy the delight of savouring each bite, try these appetizers. The perfect blend of spices here along with good enough quantity will be just right to start your meal with.Murg Cotton Kebab / Prawns Salt and Pepper : Some other recommendations for you to try.Main Course :Sea Food : Go ahead and take your pick from the awesome Seafood curries on the Menu. I personally loved the Malwani Prawns Curry.Paneer Angara Masala/ Murg Rara : Both are red curries, Medium spiced and a good choice to go for, if you would like to try anything other than Sea food options. And last but not the least : Desserts.Gajar ka Halwa / Gulab Jamun :Gajar ka Halwa is to die for. If you to have a sweet tooth just like I do then you cannot leave this place without trying this amazing Halwa..Highly recommended. And Gulab Jamun is too is worth trying .
The place is huge and is just on the highway which makes it very easy to locate. They have indoor and outdoor seating space so this place is ideal for events with large amount of people. There is no AC here as the indoor space is open which can is ideal during monsoon and winters but would not be preferable at all during hot and humid summer season. Now coming on to food. The food was sub par and not really that great. The starters weren’t great, The chicken ghee roast and tawa prawns were burnt and had a charred taste to it. The salt and pepper prawns was extremely oily. The paneer ghee roast was again oily and veg saiwoo had a very thick coating. All these lacked in flavor and seasoning. The starters that i liked were bombil rawa fry and surmai tandoori. The Bombil was cooked very well, the coating was thin and crispy and the fish was seasoned very well. The surmai tandoori again tasted really good. Cooked very well and and the seasoning and flavors were great too.The main course compared to the starters were better. The masakha special is a green and red curry with veggies. The flavors and the seasoning was spot on and it went really well with the garlic naan. The veg kofta tasted good as well. The star of the entire lunch was the dessert. GAJAR KA HALWA.It was extremely delicious with right amount of sweetness and it just melts in your mouth. This is one of their speciality and i would highly recommend this dish.Along with the dishes and the decor of the restaurant another important factor is the staff as staff can make and break any restaurant. Here the staff was extremely sweet and friendly but sadly they weren’t that informative. They were not well versed with the dishes and the specialties.I have given this place 3 stars as they have a scope of improvement and can turn it around to make this a wonderful place.
