Utter disappointment. Reception guy informs there is buffet available, it wasn’t.No mushroom appetizers. Not one option.Truckload of mutton dishes in the menu but mutton not available for the day. And they don’t even inform about it in the beginning. For soup we ordered murg kofti shorba, it was neither creamy nor had any taste of a shorba. For starters, Ordered lasooni chicken kabab. Could only taste the marination. And it had no taste whatsoever of the garlic.Happened in a long long time that I left a restuarant mid way without even ordering a main course.Either the quality has gone down or they don’t care about walk in guests at the restuarant. What would have been a good family experience has now turned into a horrifying experience for me.Not expected from a reputed hotel like Ginger.

So we had an official visit to Pune – Hingewadi & stayed over at Ginger hotel here ( which is superb!!!). Mantraa is the restaurant in the Ginger hotel campus itself and this location been near the highway we preferred eating out here. Their breakfast spread is very elaborate from Fruits to Continental ( Cornflakes, Chocos, Milk, Sliced Bread, Muffins, Jam, Butter, Nutella, Peanut butter spread) to Indian ( Upma, Idli, Parathas etc) to Boiled eggs, beans & what not!!! It truly believes in ‘Having Breakfast Like A King’!!! 🙂 If you want a breakfast to keep you full till Lunch time then head here . . . You will love it!

Sumptous spicy chicken ball Shorba. Slow paced digital ambience, best to be hinged @ Hingewadi. GoodFood – Chinese Chicken Fried Rice. What else after a drive from Mountains down!

Yuk. I dont remember, when I had been so harsh for any place. I went to Ginger hotel a couple of weeks back for having a routine (routine until last year) buffet dinner at Tulsi and thyme. But, everything was changed there. No buffet, two-three smart looking boys escorting us to a table for two. One of them handed us a two page menu, we ordered a Malai kofta and Naan. 4 French fries sized koftis came in a sweet white tarridar gravy. Naan wasnt upto the mark as well. So we ordered a Biriyani and regretted that as well. Only thing right in it were the Basmati. No taste, No flavor.. Nothing seemed right.

Stopped by Mantraa a few days ago for lunch. Ordered for a veg starter (paneer tikka), and Indian food for main course (Dal Makhni and Mili Juli Sabzi). One good thumb rule to judge a restaurant has been the quality of their tikka preparations. I liked that their paneer tikka did not feel like raw paneer inside, but had a more full bodied taste of the masala. Another good thumb rule to judge a restaurant (Punjabi bias here) is the quality of the dal makhni, which was as good as any back home. The ambience is decent. Good place to stop at if you’re around the area and looking for quick, but good quality lunch.
