I visited Baraza recently for dinner with a friend. I loved the beach shack like ambience (they even have used surfing boards as decor)! I loved the variety across their menu and the unique dishes they have. In the cocktails, I tried the molecular drink called The Great Gatsby – a vodka based cocktail with apple infused tea, orange, honeydew and kaffir lime smoke. If you like green apples and vodka, this a definitely a great cocktail to try. The second cocktail I had was the double trouble -a must for coffee lovers! Appetizers- One unique dish that caught my eye on the menu was the champagne sauteed wild mushrooms served with khari toasts. This is a mild dish (not spicy at all) but tastes really creamy because of the mushrooms and the mayo sauce. I personally felt it needed a little bit of spice to balance the creaminess. I also tried the dumplings (veg and non veg available). Both of them were well made, with a soft covering and a generous amount of filling, served with soya sauce. My favourite appetizers were the Turkish Tandoori chicken wings (a combination of Indian and Mediterranean flavours, very well cooked and loved the marination flavours), the tandoori aloo and the cheese chilli toast kabab (this was my absolute favourite, its perfect for all cheese lovers).Mains- I tried the pumpkin ravioli. The pasta was very well cooked and the sauce was also delicious. I personally felt that the sauce was thick and hence overpowered the ravioli, I couldn’t really make out the taste of the stuffing inside the ravioli because of the sauce. I also tried the chilli Spaghetti, which was really good!Desserts – I tried the blueberry cheesecake and the hazelnut mousse and loved both of them. The mousse was very rich and it was served with hazelnuts and ice cream. The cheesecake was also really soft, and served with a side of fruits. This was a great meal and I will definitely be going back, because there is so much more on the menu I want to try!

#RestaurantReview #IWasInvited #PositiveReviewBaraza – Bars and Bites, a place with one of the most convincing alfresco sitting and situated in the prime location of ‘Pubtown – Creaticity Mall’ has been delighting its patrons for over 3.5 years now. Last week we got swept of our feet when we got to relish some of its classics. We ran into Chef Gaurav who personally curated our menu to serve some of his finest from the menu. A glimpse of what we dug our teeth into.Food: 8.5/10Ambiance: 8/10Service: 9/10Champagne sauteed wild mushroom on khari toast (Rs. 250): This was a dish with contrast in abundance. The lightly champagne glazed mushrooms were just too delectable and the khari formed a perfect tough, crispy encasing. Just that they were slightly big in size for bite size portions and that made them a bit clumsy; for the mushroom stuffing of oozy and dripped all over. #HeavenlyBites Turkish tandoori chicken wings (Rs. 300): Soft, juicy and charred morsels of overnight marinated chicken decked up as chicken chops with a dash of lime; these are just perfect partner in crime for a round of drinks that you would be having while lazing around in the beautiful and airy alfresco of Baraza. #YummySaffron Prawns with Lavash & Tamarind foam (Rs. 430): The name itself sounded pleasing to ears and luckily the dish was an equally well treat for the eyes. This dish with its huge tiger prawns served over crisp lavash bread and drenched in tangy tamarind foam is for the challenger in you. I say so, because these tandoori prawns are meant to be eaten a whole along with the lavash for the contrast and calls for some shark jaws. Although the prawns were brilliant, I would appreciate if lavash is bit soft to make it more palatable. #TandooriDelightChicken Tikka flat bread (Rs. 349): The most wholesome, satiating and perfected dish of the night for sure. The flat bread was overloaded with the perfect chicken tikka you can imagine under a sheath of sticky, gooey mozzarella. Absolute bang on for a flat bread and one of the most sought after dishes at Baraza hands down. #MustHaveMangalorean ghee roast with buttered ladi pav (Rs. 350): After having a thorough idea of what t expect from the Chef’s kitchen I was certain of what I would love for my mains and the choice proved to be absolutely blissful. Now although I have my views on why a ladi pav is not a good pair for this perfectly crafted aromatic pot of super delectable chicken the chicken itself is very well capable of making you go into trance. I was totally swept off my feet by the net flavour created, for each of the ingredients used were standing out to tell their tale. The balance achieved was worth a standing ovation simply put. So full marks there (may be one less for using pav to pair up). #Outstanding Lucknowi Raan biryani (Rs. 480): A dish for the giants and the gourmands amongst you for it actually serves a huge well-cooked ‘Raan’ portion with the rice. A decent job with the rice flavour but the mutton was brilliant. So, overall a decent dish with huge focus on meat. #GoodFinisher Hazelnut Mousse (Rs. 245): I often have issue with the way deserts are conceptualized and presented and this is one main reason why I am not too much into desserts but today was an exception. The dish had a humble name but a super pleasing delivery for sure. The desert combines together at least 6 different flavours on the stone slate to start with. A chocolate dome covered with hazelnut syrup infused chocolate cake, a scoop of vanilla ice-cream to bring lot of sugar to the slate and hazelnut mousse with whole hazelnuts sitting atop. Then there were some handmade biscuits to pack in some additional crunch to the dish and a chocolate syrup drizzle to complete the pairing. What impressed me the most about the dish, was that it packed a huge spectrum in terms of bitter- sweet quotient, colours, textures and flavours. #MustHaveOverall, a place true to its name which offers some amazing finger food and serves you a host of beverages, mock-tails, cocktails and crafts beers to deliver you some amazing chilled out laid back evenings.I was invited for a tasting/ event at the outlet and the views and opinion expressed here are my personal interpretation of the experience and are not influenced in any way whatsoever. My partner and I spent an extremely memorable evening at Baraza last week. The sprawling ambience, the talented live performer, the gracious hospitality and the delicious food added up to a super fun date for us.While sipping on our ‘Cosmic Bubble Martini’ and ‘Great Gatsby’, we settled down to browse through the extensive menu. The Great Gatsby had a remarkably smoky flavour which was impressive and the Cosmic Bubble Martini had the twist of cotton candy to your regular martini. Another mocktail that we tried was Soul Burner which was a super refreshing sol-kadi based sparkling beverage.Coming to food, the number one dish to order at Baraza are their stuffed Naans – unbelievably delicious! We tried all the 3 variants:- Roasted potato, thecha & mozzarella cheese- Masala mushroom, water chestnut & garlic- Palak paneer with tomato & garlic chutneyWhile all were great, the Mushroom would be my top pick.Another great dish to look out for is the ‘Roasted pumpkin & ricotta ravioli with sun-dried tomatoes tapenade’. It’s safe to say that this was the best ravioli I’ve ever eaten (and I’ve eaten a lot of ravioli :)).Misal in buttered brioche bread & goat cheese fondue is great for experimental souls. The Misal flavour was totally on point and the portion size is very generous. The Vegetable Shanghai Dumplings were just like dumplings everywhere – delicious & melt in the mouth. While the food and drinks were very impressive, the desserts fared even better. The Nutella creme brulee was a great twist to the classic version and worked very well. The Flourless chocolate cake was dense with hints of bitter which I totally dig! It was accompaniedwith basil pinenut icecream. I’d highly recommend both these desserts. In a nutshell, we had a fantastic experience in terms of every aspect that counts while dining out. Looking forward to many more visits in the future. thevegetarianfoodie.food.blog

Set in the zone called “Pubtown” in Creaticity Mall in Yerwada, this place has a huge outdoors seating area and a beautiful fountain right outside. There’s also a nice indoors area where we were offered a table. The menu is quite interesting; with their unique take on all kinds of popular bar bites like “kolhapuri chicken tacos” or “butter chicken/paneer nachos”. We went oriental, and tried the “Stir Fried Kung Pao Chilli Chicken, Cashew Nuts and Spring Onions” and “Chicken Gyoza”. It was the best kung pao chicken I’ve had in a while – melt-in-the-mouth soft inside and very flavorful and appetizing on the outside. Chicken dumplings were nice, I only thought they were slightly on the oilier side, but the delicate taste was nicely balanced by the accompanied sweet-tangy sauce. The bar menu is also attractive, with their in house flavoured beers and signature cocktails. There were just too many good options to choose from, but we settled for one molecular cocktail called “Laser Beam” and a signature one called “Fat Monk”. Laser beam (whisky+amaretto+pineapple juice+sweet and sour) was brought to the table in a fetching jar, and then poured on the rocks, which released smoke and looked all prepossessing. But I think I am not exaggerating when I say that “Fat Monk” is the most distinctively novel cocktail that I’ve had in a while and which I enjoyed it for its refreshing feel. It could be because I really liked the lychee+ginger+kaffir lime combination. We also tried two margaritas – “Strawberry & Jalapeno” and “Guava & Chilli” both of which were really good too. I wanted to try the “Mexican Café” which looked interesting with its house infused coffee tequila+coffee liquer+citrus mix however they were out of the said house infused coffee tequila. The flavoured beers like sol kadi (kokum+cilantro+green chilli+lime) / khatta (mixed berries) / lemongrass were remarkable inclusions in the menu. For the main course I chose the “Roasted Pumpkin & Ricotta Ravioli with Sundried Tomatoes Tapenade”. The tapenade was delicious and the ravioli was finished off with the garlic bread in no time, the only downside being that I felt the sauce was a little runny. In the desserts we had the flourless chocolate cake which was served with housemade basil-pine nut ice-cream. It was a perfect ending to a wonderful meal, where I was spoilt for choice. Service was relaxed but attentive. The place was packed for a Wednesday but it’s very spacious so it didn’t really matter. It’s a great place to get a nice dinner with drinks (and if you’re an explorer, try something new from their extensive menu!)

Baraza Bars & Bites is a place that has made an indelible mark on city’s party revelers and the after office casual diners alike. The decor is contemporary and chic with various seating options, a sprawling place that can house more than 300 diners at any given time. They specialize in Bar Bites, however they have an equally amazeballs menu for the large plates. Their liquid courage offerings are so exhaustive that by only paying a cursory glance to the whole menu you feel half drunk. From Craft Beers to Beertails to Molecular Mixes, their toxic repertoire is literally infinite.Recently I visited them to check out their special Monsoon Menu, it was curated keeping the great old marriage of ‘Street Food and Rains’ in mind. It was a brief bill of fare, but very effective nonetheless.I tried ‘Crispy Onion Rings’ (Good ol’ Kanda Bhaji in a chic avtar), I liked it as it made an apt ally to my virgin Hot Toddy, a specially curated drink and it was kick-ass. Paneer Pakodas were good too if not great, lacked a bit in seasoning. Bhutte ki Chaat was the show stealer, fried sliver of whole corn tossed in butter and tangy spices tasted ‘ohh so good’. Chana Potli Chat was like a mini meal itself, really filling and delish. Chinese Bhel had the fried noodles tossed with schezwan sauce, a super bar bite with your drinks. There were quite a few options in Chicken too that I did not try but my fellow diners seemed highly impressed with what they were served. So if you have party on your mind or you want to drown the sorrows of a hard day at work or even to celebrate the good times with your friends & familia, Baraza Bars & Bites is your ‘Paragon Paradise’ !!!Do visit folks. Cheers !!!
