They have hands down the best food in town. Everything from the room service to the breakfast buffet was impeccable. I would definitely go there again on my next visit. I highly recommend the chicken biryani on their menu. It was lip smacking.
Stayed here from Sept 13 to Sept 15, 2017. Here are my observations:Got to meet the gracious Subrat Dash – the General Manager of the place. An IIHM Bhubaneshwar graduate, he has worked with Mayfair, Carlson Country Inn and Suites, and Ramee Guestline Bangalore before. Being a GM means that the buck finally stops with him. Sales, Marketing, Operations, Profitability, Restaurants – you name it. Charming. Intelligent. Well spoken. Was also introduced to Debasis Behera, the Executive Chef of the place. An IHM Bhubaneshwar again, Debasis has over fifteen years, having worked with biggies like ITC Hyderabad, Radisson Paradip, and now here since the last four years. Humble and down to earth. Soft-spoken and low profile.I was informed that there are special SOPs in place in the kitchen, the likes of which would make a five star turn red. Impeccable uniforms. Mandatory handwash with solution water at every time of entry. A sweeping of floor every twenty minutes or so. No stocking of supplies, everything sourced fresh daily. Fortune Sunflower oil used for cooking. We were guests at the restaurant and were regaled with some of Debasis’ special preparations.1) CHICKEN MANCHOW SOUP:Neither too light nor too thick. Right consistency and loaded with diced chicken. Nicely gingered, nicely peppered and soothing aroma. Served piping hot.2) PATRANI MACHCHHI:Boneless Basa, marinated with mint and mustard, tawa fried and served in a leaf. The mustard added the typical Bengali touch. Though I am not a big fan of it, I found myself warming up to it this time.3) WHOLE SNAPPER: Mustard, Garam Masala, Lemon juice marinated jumbo fish. A tad too splinterish, this snapper did bite, literally and figuratively.4) ROHU:Coated with salt and turmeric, and deep-fried.5) THREAD BABYCORN:Crispy fried Honey chilli sauce tossed babycorn. Babycorn is something I have always tried to stay away from, I had this impression fast disappearing with every bite.6) CRAB CURRY:Crab cooked in local Odisha style – mustard paste. Coconut milk et al. Though inhibitive at first at the thought of the associated labour of scooping the meat out from the hard shell, the rewards turned out to be worth the effort. It was a fairly large sized crab, and the meat scraped out was tender, spongy and yummy. And of course very very healthy.7) HILSA:In gravy, this is an Eastern zone speciality, specific to the Aug Sept Oct season. I thanked my stars for being at the right place at the right time, the Hilsa, though embedded with mild splinters, had a unique personality of its own. And the spicy tomatoey gravy only added to delight.8) PRAWN KASA:Have never seen jumbo prawns this size – measuring up to 25 units in a kilo – so you can imagine. And I was told that these are considered as mid-sized, the real ones weigh not more than ten per kg. Whoa!. Despite the size, these were extremely well cooked, springy, soft and easily absorbed the gravy they were brought in.So in the net analysis, I am surprised and dismayed to read the not so generous reviews. I strongly beg to differ, my experience here was nothing short of exhilarating. And this is not a conclusion of this visit alone, I had, in fact, stayed in the restaurant, and I had two breakfast buffet, one dinner buffet and one a la carte order. The food, the service, the warmth – this hotel deserves an encore again and again. And something about the hotel, this establishment is old as 2010. The group own properties in Konark and Puri too, completing the Triangle. This property has 69 rooms spread over four categories. Three in-house restaurants –Sizzles and Behind Bars, and one more. And an adjoining Kamat’s Restaurant. A Gym and a Swimming Pool and a shortly coming up Spa.1) Super location. In one of the plushest areas. Close to the City Centre and close to the railway station as well as the airport, In the old city of Bhubaneshwar, embracing the traditional culture.2) Large sized rooms. Excellent leg space.3) The room overlooking a large balcony. Almost like a terrace. It rained heavily the day we landed, and the beating of raindrops on our terrace balcony seemed heavenly – in more ways than one.4) Small sized bathroom. Basic frills. No pressure pump shower.5) Mid-sized bed. Lumpy pillow. Average sleep quality.6) 32 Inches Sony LCD TV. Didn’t check for HD Channels.7) Slightly inadequate lighting. I like my rooms well lit.8) Excellently working wifi. 9) Equally well working AC.A highly pleasant visit. sanjaynpunjabi.blogspot.com
Worst part of this place is its ambience, food is average, totally unprofessional staff. This place is busy only because of people staying in the hotel. Otherwise non recommendable for dine out.
With love to my elder bro..I was deeply proud for what he achieved today.an ojee rank in mtech.so he decided to hang out with me and what’s better than a buffet in VITS..Since we both are vegetarians we just murdered the panner hyderabadi,Gobi masala, babycorn Manchurian, kheer.apart from this it had soup and corn in starter..It had many more..we went on dinner.but I would suggest to have its lunch buffet especially on weekends as it has increased number of items.Staffs were very friendly and it had good ambience.Thanx VITS..for non vegetarians, its never a bad place to visit.worth trying.
This restaurant is one of the finest in Bhubaneshwar! It has such a soothing ambience and the hospitality of the staff is simply remarkable. And the food – truly WOW! It’s so fresh, delicious and exotic! It’s made with the finest quality ingredients and is not very oily, as in other restaurants! It satisfies my taste buds and I will never feel guilty of going to this restaurant during my weight loss journey! :DHats off to the restaurant manager! 🙂
