A namesake of the famous Chennai chain of Biryanis where we went thinking it is an outlet of that chain, it wasn’t. But the Biryani was damn good.At just 110 bucks, it was a superb biryani with 4 pieces of mutton, an egg, good basmati rice and a very good portion.Not the best place to sit though.
We ordered 3 mutton biryani parcel. While ordering time they said 10 minutes,but they took 1 hour to give the order. I am really dissatisfied with the biryani. The mutton pieces are big size and very hard to eat.i never expected this from Thalapakattu.
If you love Red meat then the variety of mutton dishes here is super fantastic the biryani is sooooo tasty that you might over eat and still want to eat. The staff is all jovial and the whole vibe of the place is warm. Also it’s there since 1957 and is a classic place to stop by and eat when in Puducherry or Chennai
Must try their Spl. Chicken Biriyani. During evening time Kothu Parrota is very super. Other mentionable dishes Chicken lollipop, fluffy parrota
Took a take-away from here while I was on a vacation here. While one cannot expect a hygienic environment here, food is actually good. Thalapakkatu biryani has always been one of my favorite biryani since I ate it first time in Chennai. Anyway, food made me nostalgic. Full marks for food and VFM. Nothing else is worth mentioning.
Been here for the first time to try out biryani. The ambience is not attractive and the biryani we ordered was jus too oily. They said it’s Chennai special so tried but it wasn’t. The mutton pieces were not soft n big in size. Even the chicken wasn’t fresh. It’s more of oil dipped rice. Not gonna recommend this.
