You do have to walk a little in super narrow lanes in market area to get to this small shop which you could easily pass by. But you could ask around and they all know. Go there in the morning to savour delicious Peshawari sweets. Or, try their halwa (gud ka halwa is only available during winter). Again, club the ghee soaked halwa with kulcha to have the perfect combination. Ps. Hatti means shop. So, don’t worry if you see a thousand shops with the name hatti. 😉

Had only seen pictures from various people from Pakistan about a peshori(Peshawari) Katlama and as the name suggests it is from peshawar district of Pakistan. When I came to know that such a thing is available easily on the streets of Amritsar, I was keen in trying it. We went in the narrow lanes connecting to the Golden temple and reached Mehar di Hatti, a small sweet shop (halwai) and asked for the Peshori(Peshawari) Katlama which was served to us along with kadha(Halwa) available at only 1-2 places in amritsar, when we reached they had already sold most of the stuff for the day but fortunately for us we got our share. It’s a huge parantha (actually something between a parantha and a puri), best enjoyed with halwa. It was very heavy and two of us had to share one plate as we had already had our breakfast before going to this shop. It’s different and very unique and a must try.
