Holla Patiala !Coming back to this amazing city brings back so many memories of my childhood when I would visit my daadu daadi in punjabi bagh for my summer vacations.Even a decade ago, the place to go for my weekly chicken binge was chawla’s and I’m happy to report nothing has changed other than the mode of ordering. So while I was in Patiala this time, I just had to order my favourite cream chicken boneless with rumaali rotis. The packaging was perfect and so was the quantity of the single portion of the chicken. The taste, I have no words ; consistent creamy dream. This has to be one of my favourites chicken gravies in like forever.Although I found the gravy a little thinner than before but that’s just nitpicking. The rumaali rotis though were cold and crunchy and felt like they had been prepared a couple of hours prior to delivering, didn’t taste fresh at all. Luckily for me I just had my housekeeper make some fresh chapatis for me.Overall though, I feel if a restaurant is able to master one dish over decades and decades, then it can never go out of fashion, like moti Mahal has butter chicken, Chawla’s has cream chicken!Anyway on to the FT scores :Packing: 4.5/5Cream chicken : 4.5/5Breads : 2/5Quantity : 4/5Value : 4/5Overall FT score : 19/25P.S – Patiala peeps I’m here for a few days, so if you know any hidden haunts that you feel I should try, feel free to hit me up.May the spoons be with you foodies
One of the best place to have lunch or dinner with your people. I had tangri chicken which is really tasty. The chicken was soft and was properly cooked. Also, I had cream chicken which is very much known to all. I must say they serve the best cream chicken. The chicken is freshly cooked and served. The quality and quantity is upto the mark. In Patiala, they serve the softest rumali roti. I tried their garlic naan as well. It was good too. The ambience is cosy too. The cleanliness is properly taken care of.
The food quality has degraded now, chiken and mutton is not properly cooked and the curry is not upto the mark, mutton was raw and very hard to chew . Maintain your standard of cooking as it was before and maintain hygiene.
