Very less people know that Hotel Shagun, which was known for its banquet only, is also having a restaurant. I don’t know whether this restaurant was brought up recently or it was always there, for me, Shagun meant only a place for weddings and family events. So it was only when I was exploring zomato for decent restaurants on the highway that I got to know that Shagun has Vyanjan too! This restrobar seems to be recently renovated with new style decor. But all the decking up is doing nothing to give it a better look since it looks like a dining hall with a few tables here and there and a bar at extreme end. Plus, the untidiness is not helping much either. You literally have to ignore the floor, the seats and the table, if you don’t want to lose your appetite before having your meal.Focussing on the food, there is nothing too unique about the food offered here, however, the preparation and presentation is remarkable. The chef seems to be experimenting with flavours and the results of the trials are delightful. However, the whole dining experience was spoiled when we ended our meal with the main course. They are not going easy on spices as long as north Indian main course. since the base curry tasted like a dhaba’s butter masala. Also, the tandoori rotis were so hard and brittle that some of our fellow mates preferred to eat less than their appetite just to avoid an unscheduled visit to the dentist. So to whom would I recommend this place? The ones for whom hygiene is not a taboo (it is for me), and the ones who are looking for drinks and appetizers only.

I had visited dis restaurant, quite a long time back. Its at the edge of flyover 2wards shimla frm Zirakpur. It is d restaurant inside a 3star property called Shagun.Starting withAmbiencePlush sofas and spacy with a rich look. The cutlery used is also of superior quality.HospitalityThe waiters are courteous n eager 2 help u out.PriceThis is where it hurts a bit, the price of menus are a little on the northern side. With fanciful names n elaborations, u might end up spending a bit above ur estimates.StartersOrdered chicken drumsticks, honet chilly cauliflower n tandoori chicken. The tastes were excellent n up to one’s expctns.MaincourseChicken tikka butter masala, n aum paneer dish, which IS cudnt recollect. But again d tastes wre gr8. The best part of d whole dining experience wre d butter naans, never had such soft n evenly greased naans b4. Thks a lot Vyanjan.

This fine dining restaurant is found guilty for overcharging for some very ordinary dishes. The original and staple dishes are prepared in a very ordinary manner, so one would not be prepared to shell out a big amount. Although their hospitality is commendable, the cutlery they use and the ambience inside their restaurant is something to appreciate.
