Would give rate this restaurant a 4.5 rating but since Zomato no longer has that option, giving it a 5. On our recent trip to Madurai, we happened to dine at this particular restaurant twice; both dinner and lunch and I liked the food the best here when compared to their other outlets, Chennai included. The menu at every Parambriym restaurant is different and contains local dishes famous in that particular region. The interiors are typical Parambriym style with wooden pillars and yellow walls alternating with exposed brick finish. The dining area in the ground floor can hold up to 30 pax and the first floor is a banquet hall. We also have a small tour of their sparkling clean kitchen. DINNER We started our meal with the ‘Kozhui rasam’ which was very welcoming. It was nice and spicy tasting almost like Melagu Rasam but infused with the flavour of chicken. The brain fry was an absolute delight. The buttery meat cooked to perfection was a great side to have with a nice meal. If you happen to visit them for dinner then their Kari Dosai is a MUST TRY. Although Madurai is synonymous for Konar mess Kari dosai, you should try this one here. The edges were slightly crispy and the filling was very tasty. The slightly charred onions in ghee enhanced the taste even more. Also the Meen Polichadhu was one of the best that I had tasted in recent times. The fish was so moist and cooked perfectly. The masala was very tasty with a faint hint of coconut oil. Loved it so much that we ordered another portion of it. Their Pomfret Tawa fried fish was also great. The meat stuffed Murthaba was delicious. Slightly crispy and very tasty. The Rasa podi prawn is a little different and you want to try that. The parotta was super flaky and soft at the same time. Went very well with the subtle ‘Ammi idicha’ Kozhi curry. LUNCHFor lunch we had the special ‘Virundhu’ which was a great treat. There was ‘thala kari’ fry, kola urundai, Kadai roast, Tandoori chicken, Vila Meen tawa fry, Chettinad mutton gravy, crab masala, Mutton chukka, Chintamani chicken curry, fish curry and vegetarian meals with kootu, porial, etc. on a massive vazhai ilia. It is something you must experience if you are a hard core non vegetarian. The centre of attraction was a whole goat’s thigh which was marinated overnight and cooked along with the biryani. Just brilliant. But I enjoyed their seeraga sambha biryani even more. I felt that it was more flavourful. We ended our meal with a heavy falooda. The virundhu is available on prior notice and can be easily shared by 4 persons.
Parambriym in Madurai is located at KK Nagar. The is bright and huge as the other branches across cities.Coming directly to the dinner,We started with Kozhi Melaghu Rasam, the melaghu so dominant it was so good for the weather and throat. Then came in the starters Kaadai Roast, Brain Fry, Pomfret Fish Tawa Fry, Meen Polichadhu served in banana leaf, Ammikal Idicha Kozhi curry, Mutton Kari Dosai, Rasapodi Eral, and Paratha for trying out these curries. This was again a huge spread for five of us for our dinner and the quantity was amazing. My friend loved fish fries, he’s not a fish person but still loved their so much. The Kari Dosa concept is becoming very popular in recent years, and this is one of the best Kari dosa I have tried in Madurai. Ammikal Idicha Kozhi Curry went perfect with paratha. It was one good dinner, made yummy tummy. We went again to try the actual feast which will be soon available, or you can contact the restaurant to arrange for this FEAST.It was two large banana leaf that was present in the table and within five minutes it was filled with Whole Leg Mutton Briyani, Nandu Fry, Chinthamani Chicken Curry (Naatukozhi), Thala Curry, Mutton Chukka, Vila Meen Tawa Fry, Mutton Chettinadu, Chicken Masala, Meen Kuzhambu, Kola Urundai, Kaadai Roast, Seeraga Samba Briyani, Steam Rice, and Falooda. All these were present on the banana leaf and it’s a meal that can be served for 4-5 people easily we were five in number and were able to finish this humongous meal for lunch. The taste of all the items so so good and this was more an experience. My rating would be 4.5/5. jayasuriyan.wordpress.com
