During my 5 day visit in Ooty I would say jr Kuppanna was my life saver. First of I need to appreciate the quantity of food they provide for veg and non veg meals. One set of meal pack was sufficient to feed 3 people. With so many varieties of curries their meals was undoubtedly the best. Now comes their mutton dishes. They have been following a legacy of old traditional food to the new gen and I would say they have done their best work here. Mutton chukka and mutton curry was too good as the pieces were rightly cooked and spicy enough to satisfy your taste buds. Vanjaram fry was a lil bit costly but the taste would compromise the cost. Prawns masala was outstanding. Definitely gonna try other Jr Kuppannas in other locations. Keep up the good job guys!! Cheers
Hotel Junior Kuppanna is a 50 year old legacy chain of restaurants spread in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.I happened to visit their Ooty restaurant recently. This chain is rated high and known for its South Indian Non-vegetarian delicacies. True to its legacy, the food that we had was quite tasty and chicken dishes quite succulent. All dishes are served in typical South Indian style on a Banana leaf. The curries are spicy but not overwhelming. Chapatis though were made of ‘Maida’, which we (family of 4) didn’t like. The service was slow in spite of average rush and prices were bit on higher side. Also, considering the kitchen was visible at the far end of the restaurant, it was easy for everyone to see that hygiene wasn’t up to the mark. But that doesn’t mean it was poor. I would rate it acceptable.I would consider a 2nd visit just for the taste. Fortunately, I have a franchise close to my home.Coming to the ratings:Location: A 5! Right on Commercial Road, 60-70 meters from Charing Cross, Ooty.Taste: A 4.. Good on the palate.. But not the best.Ambiance: A 3.7.. Plain white interiors with simple table-chair arrangement.Service: A 3.5.. Slow even in off peak hours.Price: A 3.3.. High for the overall package.
Had heard about it a lot. Today finally we got to visit it. It was a decent ambience . We ordered chicken kuthu paratha and wheat dosa. Service was very fast. Food was tasty. Only thing is the quantity of sides (raitha and gravy) were very less and we had to ask for it thrice.
Serves vegan meal with good taste. If you are bery hungry eat something outside and go beacuse service is one of the slowest. Parking is not available nearby the hotel so its better to walk.
Situated very near to my house in Thrissur. First time ordered Butter Chicken. They don’t even know what is it. Simply awful. Never order this dish, ever.Delivery time 1hour plus.
