I really loved this place in westin mainly because or the price you pay to eat in a five star hotel. The dishes which I loved here was the beef and porrotta, railway station biriyani, kenema baida roti. All this was a reall treat for our taste buds.I found that the goan prawns curry with the sannas and the open pork belly bao was just average. The place had a good vibe and the staff was courteous. Will come back again:)

Ratings breakup: Food -4/5 Ambiance -5/5 Service – 5/5 Menu – 5/5MKC – The Madras Kitchen Company is a new spot hosted inside Westin at Velacherry. Checked out this place, after hearing really good reviews about their food! I had a few expectations, and after my dinner experience here, I must say, this place exceeded my expectations and I am thoroughly satisfied with the whole experience ! The theme of the restaurant honors the diversity of Madras – the ambiance resembles a street like interior, it has a coffee kiosk like station, which is of-course a signature of madras, cute la la land lamps and the circular caged seating. It was well lit and seating were cozy. The menu was designed like a news paper, the menu consisted of all things indian – the signature dishes from many states were present, leaving us with a range of options to choose from, they also have street style asian food in their menu.We started our dinner with this brilliant gluten free dumpling – in which shrimp was wrapped in bok choy, and it came along with black fungi and soy sauce ! It was just brilliant ! A MUST TRY dish ! I loved it so much, it had the crunch, the mushroom was so fresh and this whole combination, is an elevating experience. then we had Thai shrimp garlic toast, which was crisp and good, would have loved it more if it had a spicier dip along. The taste was mild.Next came in the star of the night – the BBQ bao – this is a closed bao, the buns were sweetish and so soft and fluffy, just the way it should be ! having it with the chilly dip was just the match made in heaven ! so yummy and so good ! definitely going back for this dish !Spiced panagam – mildly spiced, best drink to have it during the meals, having this on the menu, gives the traditional touch, this was made so well too ! Kudos for using Bamboo straws ! A small gesture goes a long way ! :)Neer dhosa with mutton chukka – too good to stop with two pieces ! I had more. both the dishes were made with perfection, loved the tender neer dhosa and it very well complimented the spicy mutton chukka, the meat was juicy and the flavors were so apt, another MUST TRY COMBO ! loved it to bits. Ghee podi idly with vegetable korma – have never enjoyed a ghee podi idly this much, ever before. You might think I’m amplifying, but no ! Try it yourself and thank me later ! The mini podi idlies were soft and steamy hot, we can bath the idlies with generous amount of ghee ourselves ! (I loved doing that, so satisfying !) The korma was a coconut based one, it was good too ! special mention to their cute presentation. This is again a must try, no matter if you are a vegetarian or not. MKC Hot chocolate – It was topped with marshmallows, there was no sugar added to it, loved the quality and thickness of the drink ! it was perfect, it had the chocolatey- bitterness ! But lip smacking !Ghilli biriyani – I had it for the very first time, this biriyani is supposed to be wet, it did not suit my palate, also I felt that the spices were over powering. This was the only dish which disappointed me that day. For desserts I ordered – A madras kitcen sundae with jalebi and mango cheesecake – I quite did not like it too, I felt the artificial mango flavoring was over powering, the cheese cake was not firm enough, and the overall combination did not really work for me. Pricing – I think they have worked out the pricing very well, quite reasonable for this worthy experience inside a star property, is a big yes ! Bottom line – An amazing array of dishes at a cozy place !

Wonderful concept of street food with a modern twist, served in a great ambience. The menu is a delight in a newspaper format, offering small and big plates for everyone sharing on the table to get a taste of many different dishes. We tried many items, the mushroom bao and pork folded bao was a favourite, but everything tasted fresh and flavourful. A must visit when in Chennai, well done on a well executed dining concept.

I absolutely hate the fact that Zomato has restricted the word limit to just 100 words for Reviews! I’m equally glad that I could continue my passion for writing in my blog and you get to read my detailed review about my experience here at http://www.mygobbletales.com❣️

I had an amazing lunch at the Madras Kitchen Company. We started with Fresh lemonade and Neer mor, both delicious and healthy. My favourites were the Podi idli (easily my top dish), the Vegetarian Dumplings which were super soft(second only to the podi idli), and the Quinoa Tawa Pulao. They made Dal Makhni and Ghee Rice for me on request. The Dal Makhni was absolutely great, both rich in flavour and taste. The Chilli Cheese Toast was a flavorful snack. We finished off with the Tiramisu(rich coffee taste with berry sauce) and the Shahi bread pudding, pistachio sauce was amazing, and a definite must try.

This is the latest addition to the Westin Hotels. The menu consists mainly of dishes that are popular on the streets. The prices are very very reasonable for a five star restaurant. Must try dishes are the Podi idly, thair Sadham, Hot chocolate and the 54% Chocolate and berry
