I’m a big fan of Madurai’s iconic Amsavalli bhavan. I wanted to find time to try their Chennai outlet since long, but just got the opportunity. The ambience was quite ok, nothing fancy. I ordered a couple of sides – Pichipotta chicken fry and chicken 65 with the main course – Chicken biriyani. Biriyani was very good, almost similar to what is served in their Madurai outlet but the colour was a little different here (a bit too dark). The sides were good, but nothing great. Although the quantity is sufficient, I thought it’s a bit pricey. As I mentioned earlier, the ambience wasn’t great but if you don’t mind that, you can definitely enjoy the food.
