This restaurant serves scrumptious food. Just close your eyes & choose anything from the menu, & it will be served rightly with good quality, quantity & taste. Lemon roast chicken is a must try in this restaurant, it’s so so soft & juicy, my whole family is addicted to that lemon roast chicken. Also try their Chandni paneer tikka, hariyali chicken tikka, egg biriyani, chicken gravy & fried rice. The Ambiance is so neat & calm. Service is quick & friendly too. I guess its the supervisor there, he is very helpful & pays quick attention if you are in need of anything. I live near this restaurant & i just lost the count of number of times i ate food from here, Happy to have found a restaurant which serves you quality food with reasonable price. Perfect for family, friends or dinner date! Just go & dine with Gusto 🙂
Desi Street was our dinner pick after scouring through Zomato recommendations. It’s a well lit casual dining restaurant near chinthamani. There was nobody at the restaurant except us. So the service was quick and excellent. The ambience was neat and tidy. We ordered chandni panneer and sonali chicken for starters. They were decent. The pudina sauce had a piece of plastic from the curd packet they used. We notified the manager and they immediately apologized for it. We also ordered a good hot bowl of tomato soup. For main course, we ate naan with Veg Banjara subzi. The subzi was a bit spicy but flavoursome. I enjoyed it. It was in sorts a gravy version of finely chopped kadai vegetables. Overall, we had a pleasant dinner here. The rates are nominal. They also have chaat, rolls and sandwiches. Desi Street stands good in my opinion.
It’s a simple little north Indian restaurant situated near Anna Nagar East metro station (10 mins walk).Extremely customer friendly staff :)Food :We tried the -Chandini paneer kebab – Quantity was a bit less for the cost, but it was cheesy and tastyVeg Banjara – I wasn’t too keen on trying this one, but Mr Kapil told me this was a must try, and thank you sir, because it was really good. Loved it .try it out with their butter garlic naanPani poori – Was tasty. But I would prefer a counter laid Pani poori any dayGulab jamun – Very rich and sweet. A must try for any sweet tooth.Give this one a try if you love north Indian cuisinesTff rating : 3.8/5 thefoodfella.wordpress.com
Where – Desi Street, Anna NagarWhat -Hot & Sour Veg Soup – The soup was piping hot, correctly spiced and did not require any seasoning. Unlike in some restaurant, the sour balance in the soup was near to perfect.Chandini Paneer Tikka -This was choosen from the picture which someone had posted in Zomato. The paneer had cheese topping and had a hint if ghee. The vegetables were cut finely in bite size peices and was topped with chat masala.Haryali Chicken Tikka – I normaly get confused about the tikka names and like always I order the wrong one. The haryali tikka had the required flavors but lacked the juiciness. May be because the piece were a little big in size and had not be marinated for a while.Cheese Garlic Naan – Served piping hot with plenty of butter, the naan had the right portion of thinly chilly’s and garlic (not overwhelming). The naan had a crisp layer on the outside and at the same time fluffy on the inside. One of the best naan’s I have had in the recent times.Chicken Dum Biryani – Priced at 200rs the biryani had plenty of whole spices and was a bit in the oiler side. Even though the taste was decent, there was only one leg piece which I felt was inadequate for the price we are paying. But in general i wud rate the biryani to be 3/5Desi Street Paneer – Paneer gravy for the naan. The gravy was tomato based and had a little sweetness to it. We can consider it to be the twin of paneer butter masala. Went well with the hot naan and the portion size was decent enough for 2 people to share with various breads.Desi Street Falooda – My mom Geetha Lakshmi being a fan of falooda, we ordered one which costed 180rs. I could see that some essence were used and there was a decent amount of fruits. This falooda came on a smaller glass when compared to the ones you get in fruit shop or other dessert places. Was not sure whether it was worth 180rs but I might be wrong.Jamun & Vanilla Ice cream – A combination made in heaven, I think everyone love it. In this instance the jamun was a bit hard and it should have been served hot. Was a disappointed towards the far end.Bill Attached for pricing preference. On talking with Mr. Kapil, a very nice person taking care of orders ( been in the restaurant industry for 30+ years). I discussed and shared all the positives and negatives.1. The quantity of meat in biryani- There main focus is on preparing authentic north indian food and not only focus on biryani since there are many competitors in the same area. They have got feedback on the same and will be increasing the meat quanity in near future.2. Menu Limited – they are planning on bringing on other non veg and veg varieties next month. For now in non veg only chicken option.3. Similarly there is only 2 dessert options and they are also planning on increasing the menu options in the coming months. One thing they have made clear that, eventhough they give a limited menu, there main focus is to provide good food with the limited offerings. They are just 5 months old. I would suggest everyone to give the place a chance.Rather than bashingthe restaursnt, AS PEOPLE WHO LOVE FOOD, LETS TAKE IT AS OUR RESPONSIBILITY TO GUIDE NEWCOMERS
To sum it up, the Desistreet which is located at Anna nagar is a classic vegetarian and non vegetarian cuisine restaurant. It has this peaceful dining atmosphere as you enter the premises. And what about the food? It is equally good. The taste of each dish is unique and not just the taste, but the quantity is of good proportions as well. the prices of the dishes were nominal. All in all, it’s an amazing experience to be enjoyed with your friends and family.
