I am really not sure about low rating given for this hotel as per other customers.this is one of my favourite traditional mess in Chennai.People who like authentic south tamilnadu food this is the best place to have good non. Veg lunch.my rating is 4 +All non veg dishes are awesome
The rating given is only for the food. Had been here for lunch and ordered for mutton meals and mutton sukka. Meals costed me Rs 110 which I felt is a little too much just for rice, curd, rasam, papad and mutton gravy with a piece. Mutton sukka was worth the money (Rs 100) as the tender bone less meat toasted with onion, spices and pepper just melted in my mouth. The items they have is limited to meals and biriani with few starters. Go here for food and just food. Ambience is almost like a 1 BHK turned into restaurant with no much alteration.
This is a tiny little place tucked on the Nelson Manickam road near Hotel Sangeetha. The place is too tiny to accomodate the number of tables they have. And to talk of hygiene and ventilation will be futile. Food that serve is simple no frills south tamilnadu style nonveg cuisine. I tried nonveg meals with chicken fry. The meals consists of white rice, chicken gravy, fish curry, rasam, buttermilk and vendakkai (ladies finger) poriyal. The chicken gravy was spicy but it was very tasty too. The fish curry was also good and I was lucky to get a sizeable piece of fish along with it. Rasam and buttermilk were also good. To sum it up it was like eating a very well prepared rural nonveg virundhu sapadu ( feast). The chicken curry was little bit heavy on pepper but the taste that matters was awesome. In most of this kind of places the servers and the management tend to be rude and insensitive. But to my pleasant surprise here they were all friendly and professional. To sum it up it is a good place to visit if you are a fan of hardcore south tamilnadu rural nonveg cuisine and don’t mind below par hygiene or ambience. srirelishes.blogspot.com
A cheap and tasteful joint that you could have your daily meals from. Basically filled during lunchtime, Sri Devar Mess offers both veg and non veg meals. The non veg meals include chicken and fish kozumbu which are spicy and very rich in flavours, if not the kozumbu’s then you could always have their fish fries, prawn masala and egg side dishes that go along with the meals. Dinner is usually parottas and chappathis along with side dishes, the chicken pepper gravy here is a must have.Overall, this is a local joint so it doesn’t so much to fancy your opinion. But if you’re short on cash and famished, this is the place to go.
Worst food. Very bad service. Although a small shop still the quality of food is worst. This mess is a complete mess. AVOID.
