*Falafel*(Rs.125/-).One word to express this perfect dish – Middle Eastern Masal Vada.*Kunafa* (Rs.290/-).Dessert from the middle East with the rich Cheese baked with nuts and semolina topped with sugar based syrup..*Dijaj lahmacun* (RS.175/-).Turkish pizza which was baked to perfection and topped with minced meat..*Beef shawarma* (Rs.290/-).The best beef shawarma so far which made us go one more time. Soft cooked meat with a beautiful dash of flavours and how can we forget the ever soft kooboos..*Chicken kabsa 1/2*(Rs.375/-).The classics of Arab served with the flavoured rice and chicken almost like a Mandi but this is something one must try to enjoy the different varieties in which rice and chicken can be made..*Casablanca Prawn Salatsi*(Rs.200/-).A rich Seafood salad which was served fresh and with crisp veggies and perfectly cooked prawns..Follow @oruplateparcel @oruplateparcel for more food info.
Not a bad place for Veggie’s as well!A middle-eastern cuisine with a good number of veg mezze’s is all that i love about this place. Nested in a very calm road of Nungambakkam, this place is easy to spot. Not much hassle in parking though they don’t have a dedicated parking space. This place is pretty occupied even on a weekday and would accommodate around 30 people at a time. Not much of an ambiance though they have taken efforts in bringing in middle-eastern touch. The place is a lil congested. The people are kind to suggest to us some must try’s and i loved their service. I would recommend preferring this place for an evening snack if you are a vegetarian since there are not many main courses in the veg.We took PITA BREAD with VEG MEZZE SAMPLER with which one gets to order 4 mezze. The bread was soft and small. We had chosen all the 4 from cold mezze which one does’n get at other places. I was personally looking forward for Dolma, and was disappointed when they said they didn’t wouldnt be able to make it. So, have alternatives in the mind all the time!! We took MUHAMMARA, TABBOULEH, TAZTUKHI, and THOMMIYA. The first two were spicy while the other two were cold and bland and we were not disappointed. The quantity served in the platter is small and hence choose bread accordingly. We took KARKADE TEA which was essence based and was a disaster! ROOHAFAZA LIME SODA which was supposed to be a rose-based drink was also disappointing because it was merely a lime soda and had no rose touch to it. Yet another thing i love about this place is dessert! We chose assorted BAKLAVA. It has three small peices of baklava’s made of your choice. We asked for one in ALMOND, PISTACHIO & DATES. The best! This place only for their mezze and desserts for a veggie! Would definitely recommend this place.
The best place for middle east cuisine. They provided food which has auntentic taste of turkey, lebanon, syrian, moroccan and egyptian.I once had beef shawarma & kebab platter at lebanese restaurant in colombo which is the best i ever had so far.I couldn’t find any shop with that touch in india. This place replicated the same flavour in their hummus and chicken donar ❤️The shop is located near Asan school. The road is so calm.It is easy to figure out the place.Parking is not comfortable for two wheelers as there are nearby restaurant/houses guarded by chowkidar.Today the road is empty so we had no trouble. The eatery is quite small and they have traditional arabian style ambience. The magic carpet from aladdin movie and mug were placed on wall. They too have love birds inside the restaurant. What we ordered ?Falafel-Famous starter in lebanon made of chickpeas. It was served hot and tasted really food.I personally felt the size is smaller.Chicken donar-It was one amazing dish!!! The amount of meat provided is much appreciated and worth the price. It came along with fries and salad. The stuffing of chicken made the donar so huge.As big fan of turkish food,This was always on my list whenever i see turkish on menu but this donar is something special & became my favourite ❤️ Hawashi Beef – Slowly cooked minced beef stuffed inside bread. It came in three slices along with salad, chilli paste and mustard. The beef was so wonderful with brown coloured. It tasted fantastic Overall we had very good experience here. The place was peaceful with arabic song. The lights were dim.Perfect place for romantic dinner with loved ones. The service was good and very attentive.we came and went in rush so couldn’t enjoy the meal. Service -4/5Taste-5/5Quality-4/5Quantity-4/5If you are big fan of arabian food.I bet you cannot skip this place in chennai ❤️ I will definitely go back to try their desserts and eat in peace !!!!
I love Turkish cuisine and here is the perfect food destination for that.Ordered shawarma and falafel roll and fries . Truly speaking I love it. Will try other items from the menu in future for sure.
Finally! A place that serves authentic middle eastern food! It is located in a quiet area within Nungambakkam without any hassles for directions (if you use Google Maps), and with ample parking space in the vicinity.Food: 6/5 – We ordered a lot of food, so describing each dish would lead to a long review. I will mention some striking ones though. Hummus is perfect! It is provided with little kubus. We ordered Turkish Pide bread to finish off the hummus. Their Falafel almost touched the original Arabic note. Do not miss their beef/chicken shawarma. One order has 2 huge rolls stuffed mostly with meat, and not adulterated with too much veggies or mayo. Kebab Khashkash (minced lamb kebab) is a full course meal by itself served with rice, veggies and sauces. Kunafa is a must-try dessert for all you sweet/cheese lovers. The Roohafaza lime soda is a mild rose flavored soda and very refreshing.Ambience: 5/5 – Just like the name, they maintained the look and feel of a small souk or shopping complex. Smoky attar would be spread in the evenings. There are carpets, pots and mugs as a part of the décor, and the place is dim lit. Catchy Arabic songs are played in the background, which adds to the Gulf feel. Around 30 people can be seated at once, so table reservation is recommended.Service: 4/5 – Service can get slow when it is crowded, even getting the bill gets slow. The menu is self explanatory, but if you have any doubts the waiters are pretty knowledgeable about it. If you lived in the Gulf at any point in your life, this is the place in Chennai to get food with the closest Arab cuisine touch.
The place at first look appears very conjusted. Umm.. which it is! :PThough interior space is very constrained, it does look very innovative and beautiful. The quality, variety and taste of the food is really great when it comes to the bracket of grills and breads. But the work with the rice items over the oven just ain’t appetizing. Especially the Arabian rice and the stew plates. The taste is very different which can be accepted to an extent considering its authentic Moroccan but the meat being really stiff and not tender has no excuse.Mentioning again the shawarma, other breads and grills gets no complain and is really great to savour. It’s a different experience and indeed a nice one.
This new place – Al Souk which literally translates to The Market, has totally that vibe going on. Not to big but the interiors are done to match the name. First thing to try of course was hummus and it was all of creamy goodness! We got to try a variety of dishes like spinach stuffed phyllo, chicken shawarma, kabsa and falafel roll. All were delicious and good in quantity! The only drawback we felt was the desserts! Even the drinks there were super refreshing- must try roofazah lime soda.
