Some restaurants make me want to write about them almost immediately after the meal, some make me give a shoutout for it in social media thanks to its effect on me and very few of them make me stop clicking pictures and concentrate completely on the food. Saifu’s Kitchen in T Nagar (Teynampet border to be precise) made me do all three of them and here I am writing about an eatery after ages.I had seen a few of my favourite reviewers visit this place and rave about it in various platforms. Unsurprisingly, when a friend dropped by home, we decided to check out this place. Saifu’s Kitchen is located in Sun Plaza which is right before Anna flyover if you’re approaching it from GN Chetty Road. The place is quite small and does not sweep you off your feet with its ambience. It has a few tables and chairs and there’s nothing much to talk about the set-up. But they make up to it multifold with what they serve. We started off with Idiyappam and Mutton Paya before getting a bit too excited and ordering Ghee Rice, Brain Masala, Andhra Chicken and Mutton Khurma. The Paya was just the way I’d like — with succulent pieces and thick gravy. It went perfectly with the string hoppers. It was basically the story of having ‘too much side dish so let’s get a main’ and then it becoming ‘too much main so let’s get a side dish’. With almost 40% of the paya left, we ordered their Ghee Rice and obviously, the gravy wasn’t enough and we ended up getting a Mutton Khurma. Don’t even ask me about the Brain Masala and Andhra Chicken. Speaking about them though, the Khurma was runny, making it a good companion for the rice. It had a good portion of mutton despite having some large chunks of potatoes. I love the vegetable in a non-veg gravy, so I didn’t mind it at all. The Andhra Chicken was definitely not your typical Guntur style. It was an attempt of specialists of one cuisine trying another, but thankfully, it worked in their favour. Though not being as spicy as I had expected, the boneless pieces of chicken were absolutely delicious. Keeping all the brain-related jokes aside, let me say out loud that I love brain masala. Unfortunately for me, restaurants usually make me murmur my complaints to myself by adding too much of chopped onions or adding eggs which completely changes the flavour. Thankfully, these guys don’t resort to those gimmicks and I got what I wanted. The staff members were sweet enough to give us a small portion of Kidney curry and a portion of sweets for us to try too.The above-mentioned items cost us Rs. 872 including taxes and I can’t wait to get back to try the rest of their menu. They used to deliver via Uber Eats and I guess they’ll be available on Zomato for delivery hereafter. If you are someone who wouldn’t mind a regular ambience in exchange for some fantastic food, I strongly recommend a visit here. As I had mentioned earlier, I couldn’t click pictures after the first set of orders reached our tables, so kindly excuse for the solo photo.Ratings break up:-Location:- 3.5/5Parking:- 4/5Food:- 5/5Customer Service:- 4/5Ambience:- 2/5Price:- 4.5/5
