Ever since they opened close to two years ago , Vivekananda Coffee (aka VCH aka Chennai Coffee) has been a place I visit one or two times a day to get my “degree” coffee fix. I don’t know what they do to make it perfect, but I am yet to taste more authentic South Indian coffee anywhere else. This is not the place to look for ambiance or style or all the other superficialities that are irrelevant; but to taste, relish and enjoy the flavour of true home style coffee in a stainless steel tumbler dabara. If you become a regular, the friendly boys who mix the coffee have memories better than any facial-recognition software that Google or Amazon can offer and serve you coffee that is exactly suited to your taste. There has been no change in quality from the time they started and I promise you that once you visit, you too will get you hooked. Yes they serve biscuits and kara sev and kutti and big samosas. They also have a big fan following for their variety sundals, but for me it remains the spot where I attained coffee moksha!
Coffee is really good here..They serve puffs, green grams, sundal and other snacks items. The place is compact and they do have some comfortable place to sit. There is also some little space outside where couple of tables are placed where people can stand and have snacks or coffee.
Nice place to have breakfast in Chennai. The Coffee is strong and also the South Indian snacks such as Vadaas tastes good. But it is expensive.
Situated near Woodlands hotel, a corner shop where Wait Rose Department Store is there. (Old Nilgiris). A Small outlet where they serve coffee samosa and other snacks. Moreover, they have converted the platform into tables where we one has to keep the coffee and drink. (The shop encroached the platform as a part of the hotel area and that too on a permanent basis)Coffee tastes good, but for drinking on the platform the charges are on the higher side Rs.30/- per coffee.Location – 3.5/5.0; Ambience – 3.0/5.0; Food – 3.0/5.0; Service – 3.0/5.0; VFM -3.0/5.0 vijayslsl.wordpress.com
