The soup wasn’t that great. Apart from the soup, the other buffet dishes were pretty good. And the spread was nice especially the pasta and the noodles . The desserts were the best part and not forgetting the mushroom gravy which was great along with the naan. The cauliflower fry started was delicious as well. ❤️
If you know me well you know how much I love coconut milk. That is the Srilankan in me speaking. So when there was this Kerala Food festival I couldn’t resist myself from being there. The place was good and the tables were neatly set.The buffet was getting ready while I was waiting in my table. The waiters brought a soup and pakoda starters to our table.I loved the coconut milk drumstick soup and raw mango pakodas.I haven’t thought of drumstick in cocouny milk to be this awesome soup even in my wildest dreams. And the raw mango pakodas make you wish for rain and some chai. I would visit the place again just for the pakodas. Not exxagerating. The spread was huge and were served in clay pots. More brownie points for that. They did have traditional red rice along with sambhar and rasam.I did skip it and tasted begetable biryani with corn raita. Heavenly is the word.Loved their Olan and mango pachadi amongst the other few.About the desserts, they did have varieties.I loved the unniapam and parupu payasam.Overall, I would recommend the place for a hearty meal.
Do you know?Regenta Central Deccan is one of the 2 hotels(Star Rated) in Chennai which offers pure-veg menu in their restaurantIt is a part of Royal Orchid Hotels Group Which is operating across India with close to 50 properties. This property where I had been to, is located in the Heart of the City with ample space for parking your vehicles. The ambiance is real nice and so as the staffs – who were ever smiling.Coming to the main occasion – It is the #KeralaFoodFestival starting from today and was there until yesterday. They have a very wide range of delicacies which includes soup, salads, desserts, side dishes, main course and yes, if you are born and brought up in Chennai or elsewhere except Kerala, you surely wouldn’t want to miss the items. They serve during lunch and also for Dinner. My personal experience & recommendation – Each and every food item is an authentic Kerala cuisine which gives you the first hand experience of how they are made & taste. Since I had been to Kerala 20 times, I can vouch it.Whole menu is curated by world record holder Saras Viswam. The restaurant will keep coming up with various festivals from time to time. Keep watching my timeline for more updates.P.S. They currently have Mami Samayal – a Satvik way of preparing food barring garlic & onion. Do give a try.
Tried their Kerala Food Festival this week. Good to see an all vegetarian spread of Kerala cuisine which is usually dominated by non veg items. The kerala food festival menu is curated by celebrity chef Saraswathi Vishvanathan who holds world record for longest non stop cooking.Coming back to the menu, we started with green peace coconut milk soup, which was great and very different experience from the traditional tomato or veg clear soup we get.Hot Jeera water- which is served in Kerala restaurants instead of plain water- was served on demand to make the experience more authentic.Mango (seasonal at this time of the year), coconut (popular ingredient in kerala ad coastal karnataka), banana and other ingredients were extensively used in the dishes. I enjoyed the Ganji (Kanji)- boiled rice cooked with coconut milk- a staple food in the region- with mango pickle, raw mango and jackfruit happalam.Appam and stew was served on demand from live counter.Desert included 3 types of payasam and a host of other items, Overall a nice way to experience authentic Kerala all vegetarian food right here in Chennai. But priced at Rs 888 nett per personPuttu and white rice were missing, but was told they were there on some other days. Menu varies slightly each day. Last day June 30th, do visit. I missed some real tender coconuts though! enidhi.net
Kerala food festival and that too vegetarian only spread. I didn’t want to miss it. So we paid a visit. We were disappointed. First of all how can you eat Kerala food, literally the full spread in a 8” plate. Couldn’t get more than 4 dishes on the plate each visit and by the time I did go through most of the items I had completed 5 trips. No second helpings please. The spread was traditional mostly though we missed Appam and Idyappam & stew. Back to what was served. A coconut milk based soup with traditional starters was a good start. Then the main spread of Olan, Erecherry and so on was tasty. But serving was awful. There was not even one vessel where we could pick up our serving without scrapping the bottom and the service was hopeless. Pulao was tasty and good. There was only the traditional Kerala rice. No other plain rice. Caramelised Jack fruit dish was awesome and some of the other deserts were passable.
Do you want to relish mouth watering authentic tasting Kerala cuisine. Then you’ll have to head to @regentacentraldeccanchennai . The Kerala food fest is at their olives restaurant from June 21st to 30th. Lunch and dinner buffet priced at 888 net.@sachuskitchen founder Mrs. Saraswathi viswanathan has put forth this wonderful feast that sure is to linger in our mouths for a very long time. You can find Kaalan, plan, upperi, publishers, erishery, vada kootu curry, Vishnu kanji, Malabar parotta, veg moilee to name a few.The overall arrangements were great and food was very tasty and worth the money. We had drumstick soup and raw mango pakoda for starters which made the perfect start to the sumptuous spread that awaited next.
Where do you go when you want authentic Kerala food brought all the way from Trishur Sachus kitchen You find them at the here at Regenta Dental Deccan….The food festival has 25 delicacies made with love by MasterChef in Kerala cuisine Mrs. Saraswati who also created a world record this April in cooking. The treat lasts only until June 30th and the feast goes on for lunch and dinner…..We began with ragi puttu and kadala curry with a twist. Though I had my reservation I am a convert now. Besotted with how tasty they were…The olan and aviyal were my favourites…She had made a deep-fried bindi side dish which elevated the taste buds to a harmonious dance of pleasure…Her buttermilk seasoned with onion and spices with a twist was creamy and left us hungry for more…I couldn’t imagine a pure non-vegetarian like me to be converted by the taste of her cooking !! I could eat veggies all day if she cooked them. The desserts were a different story all together the rice payasam was excellent. We loved the eggless cakes that are a signature feature.Buffet at 899net was a good deal
