I have been to 100s of restaurants/eateries/food carts etc., to eat biryani. But this one is the best place to have mutton/chicken biryani. I’ve been eating here for more than 15 yrs now. They serve Good portion of rice and meat for very reasonable price. It’s aromatic and flavorful. Go there at 1 pm, you’ll get fresh, super hot biryani. They serve only limited portions, so if you are late you may not get it. Don’t expect even an average ambience. They don’t cook there. Prefer taking out. Two wheelers can be parked.

Lately, there has been no shortage of Biryani supply in the city since we could find a black pot serving it in almost all the streets of Chennai. This is one small place located on the main road which serves tasty Mutton and Chicken Biryanis. Mind you, parking is a big hassle around this place. Both the Mutton and Chicken were tender, but they weren’t spicy. Though there isn’t anything bada boom about it, the flavours were well blended without any frills around. The price of each plate was damn cheap (1/4 and ½ plates available). And, the only concern would be the ambience; I’m sure that not everyone would be a fan of it (prefer takeaway in that case). WORTH A SHOT!

At the outset this may be one of those crude biryani outlet with literally no ambience, but take my words for a biryani lover.. this place is a no-nonsense cut the crap biryani heaven that puts to shame many top class restos serving so called biryani.Jus devour their mutton biryani, you will forget the world. They have been selling biryani in this place for nearly 12 years now. They serve noon and eve freshly cooked.Shahi Moghul was recommended by one of my Muslim friend and turned out to be a place worth the find.Must go to place in Chennai for simply ecstatic biryani experience.

Food and Flavour: 3.5/5Ambience: 3/5Service: 4/5Seating: 2.5/5Value for Money: 3.5/5* No Parking available What may look like a regular Biriyani stall with their black ‘andaas’ almost on the pavement, may well be the best you’ve had in the neighbourhood. Easily missed and overshadowed by another iconic restaurant (Hotel Safari) next door. More likely than not, Mutton Biriyani gets sold out by the time it’s 1:30 PM. Since it’s located on a busy main road, parking outside isn’t an option. The cramped staircase next to the entrance is your way to the seating area with about 6 tables. It’s packed during weekends and the takeaways outdo the walk-in sales on most days. It was two of us for lunch on a weekday at 1. Order:-Mutton Biriyani 1/2 (₹170 *3) – The biriyani was mildly flavoured and dry with almost no irritants (lodged masala, etc.). Mutton pieces were cooked well and tender. They didn’t have chicken 65 which is usually on the menu. Raitha was awful; curd had turned. The brinjal curry contained huge brinjals, was tangy and delectable.Would prefer dine-in over takeaways and both chicken and mutton Biriyani are good. They often go wrong with the raitha which is a letdown. The tables were a tad bit dirty. Service was okay. No flies noted and ambience not a big bother once you start guzzling on the biriyani. Total:- ₹510/-

Excellent biryani, 65, omelet and a coke. Trust me nothing much to say. Please vist, a bit early before the normal lunch or dinner time since you may have to wait for a long time and biryani would be over.I visited this hotel last week and it’s a total disappointment since this place also joins the list of Chicken Tomato rice. I had atleast 1 and half Tomato in my plate and the Tomato rice was so damn pathetic. I threw it off and walked out
