I went with my friends to this place for a Sunday brunch. They have introduced three different types of brunch options. It’s supposed to be a buffet but served as portions on your table.1. Raziya – a 10 course meal2. Padmavati – 15 course meal3. Manikarnika – 20 course mealWe chose ‘Raziya’. The dishes were served to us on the table. I have to say, the plating was eye catching. The portions for each dish they served was very little compared to how much I would usually take on a buffet. I was told it’s unlimited and I can ask them to repeat any dish from the ‘Raziya’ menu and they would repeat it. Well, honestly I was not too comfortable with that. Even Biryani was served in small portion (just three spoonfuls). Seriously!Overall, the food was okayish. I would have wished to have an even more efficient service and an improved buffet experience.

You wouldn’t be faulted for expecting 18 degree North to be a pure North Indian Tandoori restaurant going by it’s name. But in essence it serves a spread of South Indian as well. The confusing part was that there were even continental options in the fray. The place gives a nice feel good effect. It is structured well and gives a mughal like royal rich feel. Big sized statues define the ambiance and the gold coverings and rich embroideries give it a regal feel. It does ignite a classy fine dining experience. We were here on a weekend lunch and tried the Raziya which is a 10 course meal. I was a little disappointed being a vegetarian as the options were a little too less for my liking. First up the salad was a normal sprouts with papad and some peanuts for company. Then on the appetisers, the masala vada and the bhindi kurkure were just passable. They didn’t possess the zing that I expected. However the samosas made up for a bit by being quite nice and so too was the brinjal bread fried cutlets. The panneer tikka made in the malai form was strictly decent. In the main course, the item which I liked tje most was the Dal. The Dal Panchrathan viz five different types of Dal went very well with the Indian bread ans possessed a wondrous aroma. Sadly this was the only real dish in this section which stood out. A rice bowl was served with a yam like side dish which tasted very bland. We got three different types of pastas viz cashew, palak and malai which were all decent but were too plain and didn’t come with any add-ons. Also it stuck out as being odd for such a restaurant. The dessert was average. The gulab jamun and ice cream were the usual run off the mill fare and the carrot halwa lacked the x factor and didn’t have the necessary texture. On the whole it was a mixed bag. Most of the items were just bordering along par with only the Dal rising up above expectations. The rates are a little on the higher side but there seem to be good deals of food and drinks. I believe the larger courses such as the 20 and 30 course meals have far greater options and choices. Just going stand alone from the 10 course Raziya pack, it didn’t please me much as I expected.
