I’ve never really tried North-Western Frontier Cuisine so I really didn’t know what to expect from the restaurant. To be honest, I’d always seen the Kabul outlet as I passed through RK Salai but I had never visited the place. On this particular day, my family and I decided to try it out because we wanted to try something new.We visited the restaurant at around 10:45 so there were not a lot of people. The ambience was pleasant as was the interior, consisting of Islamic-type architecture and carpets adorning the wall, which made one think about life in Persia and the middle-east. The waiters were very eager to help too.As a vegetarian, I wasn’t able to find many items in the menu to eat but, then again, I didn’t expect to. My family and I ordered soups, starters, main course and some drinks. The Tomato Soup was nice and wasn’t really different from what you’d taste in other restaurants. I want to talk about the starters at the end so I’ll move on to the main course for now. We ordered a Naan Basket and Paneer Butter Masala. The Paneer was served in a quaint little pot and was pretty good. Again, it was not different from what you’d get at other places. The Naans were good too. For drinks, we ordered Masala buttermilk, which I enjoyed very much. As for the starters, we ordered a Paneer Tikka and Dum Aloo, I think it was called. The Paneer Tikka, again, was what you’d get elsewhere but the Aloo was out of the world! It was probably the only dish which stood out and is probably a reason why I might go back there again! The bill was not very expensive and amounted upto 1500 for the four of us. I would say that Kabul is not a place which provides a large amount of variety for vegetarians but should definitely be tried at least for the sake of trying the cuisine itself.

Nice ambience , not very gaudy , but , spacious and peaceful..food quality was awesome..they had a wide range of kebabs, all varieties sounding delicious..me being a vegetarian ordered spinach and corn fritters , which were really great.. my husband appreciated the chicken kebabs the most, which he hardly does in any of the restaurants in Chennai, claiming themselves to be north indian..so 2 thumbs up for that..and other food stuffs we ordered were equally great..love the taste and quantity..and will soon be planning to go there again..
My Order:Paneer Tikka – 300Mutton Shami Kebab – 365After discounts , taxes, delivery charges – Rs 610.75Delivery Time: as promised on time, well behaved delivery executive and order was accepted and prepared in 25 mins.Packing – Perfect and very well done. the have ensured that there would be no spillage and have heat wrapped with aluminum foils the containers of the starters. The Food was hot when it arrived. Food – The panner tikka – was little burnt but tasted good, However was completely dry. the marination clearly hasnt sunk in and the outside is more cooked than the inside. Partly due to the size of the paneer cuts as well. Generous portions of onion and capsicum and tomatos to the mix. Portion size – Very Good overall – 3/5The Mutton Shami Kebab – very poor. Was completely dry and was like maava than minced mutton pattys. not a semblance of ghee found in the dish, it was a mutton cutlet at best with cinnamon and clove overpowering in the dish. Portion Size – Very good – Overall 2/5would have ended up giving less than 3 however, for the packing, delivery time and the positive portion size definitely deserves a mention. If they can pick up on the quality of the dish would do wonders for them for sure.
Gave 2 star because of the ghost mutton biriyani which tasted like gravy rice.. by the way I liked the chilli Gobi made in an Chinese style.. welcome drink is not that tasty and papad which was provided is good with smell of strong pepper..
Not good. I couldn’t eat fully
