Food and Flavour: 2.5/5Ambience: 4/5Service: 4/5Seating: 4/5Value for Money: 3/5So, my friends from Mylapore had always talked about this small, 25+ year old ‘hotel’ they would frequent for late night dinners. Eventually, after a couple of drinks in the area, we ended up at this, Hotel Select. It’s your regular, nostalgia-inducing eatery with the retro non-a/c section and a/c room. A few tables were occupied in both the sections. It was around 22:30 on a Friday. They’re generally open till 1 A.M. Order:-Appam (₹20) was Passable. Quality of batter was so-so. Idiyappam (₹10) tasted okay but was served cold. The Butter Naan (₹40) was good. Mutton Pepper Paya (₹235) – The gravy tasted like any Malabar version of the dish would. Tomato and pepper flavours fighting to overpower. The two hooves were humongous and tasted okay. Summed it up with a couple plates of Half-boil/Bull’s Eye (₹40) two a plate. No major complaints with air conditioning and seating. Service staff was friendly and service was rather quick. Menu was extensive. Couldn’t try much else though (considering our stomachs were half full). Having said that, I had an uneasy, digestion trouble throughout the next day. Would I go back again after my first experience? Maybe, but I’d stick to recommended dishes next time. Venkatraman Sridhar Raghavender Sathyanarayanan B

Nice place in luz corner in between the busy shopping area. A/C hall is small to accommodate more than 5 family/groups. Food quality is good typical kerala style for some dishes. Other than that we have to taste and share the experience.
