If you are punjabi food lover its your place in chennai. Ambience is ok ok 2/5. Staff and owner is very humble and nice 4/5. But for food its 7/5. Here you will find simply delicious and fantastic punjabi food which will full your stomach but not your hunger. Even if you are full you will wish to eat one more
With great expectations come greater disappointment and this was proven true by my unfortunate visit to Desi Rasoi’s Punjabi dhaba.Being a great fan of Punjabi cuisine and Pait Pooja’s food, I was super excited to visit the place. On a Friday eveining, I was passing by and spotted this restaurant. Me and my friend were already full but I wanted to try their lassi. So Iconvinced my friend and we ended up ordering a VVSPL – Very very special lassi (Rs. 160). I was raving about their food and she was super excited to try the lassi. Finally when it arrived, my Punjabi dreams came crashing down. It was in a small cup but I dismissed it based on our current economy. Then it was a flurry of sadness, when I found the lassi to be very watery (huge insult to Punjabi lassi), can’t even describe the malai in the lassi it was horrendous, stale dry fruits and fruits that didn’t save the sinking lassi. To avoid getting sick, we didnt drink the lassi and just paid the bill and left the establishment. My journey to find the authentic Punjabi food in Chennai continues!!
The food had an authentic taste to it, which made it feel like home food. Good quantity and good value for money. Not a place to go if you are looking for a great ambience, but definitely one to try if you enjoy delicious food.
This place serves amazing North Indian food. Have tried out the paranthas and simply love their cooking in pure desi ghee. For a humble pang of hunger, their plain basic thali gives you sufficient to savour. The other stuff like paneer n all are a tad bit on the spicy side and hence, are less preferable. Among other things, their dal fry and bitter gourd is also worth a mention.Don’t expect a great ambience but it stands true to its word of a 100% desi Punjabi kitchen. Definitely a worth a shot.
Serves good authentic north indian food. Had soup and panner starter. Ordered phulka and kadai veg. Phulka was so fresh and soft. All the subzi and starters are little too spicy. Overall loved the food and the customer serivce. Will recommend to others for good vegetarian north indian food
Had ordered it online and they have only veg food, also jain food is available here. Got Schezwan and Regular fried rice. The schezwan one was cooked really nice and was getting a nice taste. The regular one was very dry and it was average. The sabzi of paneer was spicy and cooked well. I felt the quantity given was less and had expected more.
Just for their lassi, butter naan and paneer, I’d absolutely visit this dhaba again! Their fast and good customer service is also a major bonus!
