Good food! Fairly quick service.Ordered a molaga bajji-madri starter which tasted great and a pizza which was good, not great.Couldn’t locate the hotel without the address, since there wasn’t any board displaying just the name of the restaurant.Located in a hotel, with cops lounging around, the place felt a little shady. Apart from that, the entire interior setup seemed quite nice and it was quiet.
Been here once and I will definitely go back for more.Service was excellent and the waiters were very polite.Their beer fried prawns were simply lip smacking . Loved their mutton rib chops. The nasi goreng very strongly flavoured and the aroma was a little over powering for me personally but my friends loved it.The ambience was excellent. Very comfortable and relaxing.
The Palette is located inside the Southern Crest hotel in Venkatnarayanan road, T.Nagar just opposite to reliance digital. Which is very nearby to the Panagal park even.Have heard about this place through a person, cause really I haven’t known of such a kind of place in chennai.Since this is even newly opened multi cuisine restaurant. After a tiring day at work, been there for dinner. Was served with a thick and hot coffee with a strong decoction. Which cleared my headache. Then we were served with Tarbooz ka thanda, it was a mix of watermelon, coriander and lemon juice. It was so mild in taste and even sweet was too low on the go. Refreshed well enough to have a heavy meal ahead. One of my friend ordered Patiala shahi lassi, which was ok from my point of view. Yet it was filled with saffron’s. Was rich and thick enough. That could be a added point for my friends who loved this. For a common started we ordered cheesy garlic bread filled with a mix of capsicum and black olives. Tasted too cheesy and buttery for me. For soup we got Murg Aur dhaniya ki gehni, it was the delicious and a lite South Indian soup tasted ever. It was clear enough with chopped pieces of chicken, filled up with dhaniya which is nothing but seeds of coriander. Flavoured with saffron. This soup made me excited to try the rest. Pappad was given as sides which I didn’t even recognise it was served to us. Since the soup made me so.For starters we ordered:1) Veg optionsJalapeño paneer tikka – It was nothing different from the paneer tikka I tried. Yet I felt the aroma of jalapeños in it. I felt the paneer was not fluffy enough and turmeric was a little high on the tikka. Yet the green chutney served matched with it.Kale masale aur subzi ki seekh – it was a vegetarian seekh kebab kind of, but we felt that the masala was strong enough in it. Aroma of it was great, taste wasn’t a disappointment even.2) Non-veg optionsKesari murgh tikka – perfectly grilled chicken pieces which was soaked enough with saffron milk. Tasted so soft and was juicy enough. The mint chutney was never a option for this. Apdiyae saptutaen.La-Gee-Gee fish- pan Asian sauce to fill with a corn flour mixed and mildly roasted fish topped with groundnut, capsicum, onion and coriander leaves. The aroma was too good. Yet was disappointed a little since the fish was not enough to taste, as the flour was of more in it.Spicy prawn skewers – the prawns were cooked and soaked with a spicy green chutney sauce. I didn’t like the prawns since it wasn’t cooked enough and had its chow chow rubbery taste.Galouti kebab – how could I express this one, tasted so yum. Lamb minced and chopped into tiny pieces marinated with masala and toasted to perfection with a little oil and butter. Was rich enough to fill your tummy. Haven’t tasted this so far anywhere and I like it much except the salty taste. Salt could have been mild a little. Tried with mayonese, which was takkaru. In between we ordered a Melon breeze cooler to chill out the full tummy which was chill enough and made up my filling tummy to rest a while. For main course we were given with:Nasi goreng: Indonesian styled chocked and prawn fried rice served with a half cooked egg and kimchi salad (mix of cabbage, carrot, vinegar oil, pepper and sesame seeds). Since it’s a non veg one we were served so with chicken satay, which tasted a bit hard. Sichuan fried rice – chicken spicy fried rice it is. It wasn’t to too spicy, but was mild enough to fill in your taste buds. So much of chicken it it could be the best thing. Balti murgh with steamed basmati rice – North Indian based chicken gravy. The gravy was filled with chicken pieces, capsicum and onion sliced. Witt the steamed rice it went on so good. Since me and my friend finished it completely by ourselves.Coming to the climax: Long standing chocolate vertigo – huge in length breadth and height the long standing chocolate cake was filled up with layers of fluffy cake, mild chocolate cream and sauced with a normal chocolate sauce. Almost 10 layers it was. It was so so fluffy in texture and was so smooth to go inside your mouth to enter the tummy. Tasted so good and less of sugar which was an added taste to it. Dark chocolate sauce could have been better on it, which was my suggestionCitrus cheesecake – Kind of plain creamy cheesecake with a mild citrus taste. Mango panna cotta memory – myself being a panna cotta fan, I loved this fluffy thick mango filled panna cotta, gulping it first was our moto. At the last we got cold coffee, which was chill enough with coffee and skimmed milk. It was the cold version of cider had.My suggestions could be: 1. Murg aur dhaniya ki gehni2. Kesari murgh tikka3. Balti Murg gravy 4. Kale masale aur subzi ki seekh5. Tarbooze ka thanda 6. Mango panna cotta memory.Coming to the colourful interiors and decors, the small space restaurant has bright lights with colourful hangout’s and even a palette of colours both on menu and in the ceilings.Service was too fast and proper, even though they managed to help us with whatever it was.Peeping at their menu, I was about to let you people know about them since they serve more than north and South Indian food. But they serve even Chinese, continental, Indonesian and Thai food. And they have a cheesy pasta and pizza varieties even.Service:4/5Food: 4/5Cost:5/5Quantity:5/5Taste:4/5You could seriously have this place as an option after a tiring day of shopping. Since it is inside a star hotel, the price wasn’t high enough. The price of food falls on a medieval side. Cost effective heavy dinner could be my option after some tiring time.
All the newcomers to Chennai think that T-Nagar is a textile joint but I frequently use to remind them that T-Nagar has some good food joints too. Mostly it will be either street foods or some Porsche restaurants. There is no intermediate here but now here comes The Palette in Sothern Crest, T-Nagar. A place with good food at a low price at a pleasant ambiance with a soothing service. After a long drive from my office to T-nagar on a hectic weekday eve, I wanna get refreshed with some soothing coolers and when asking for it to the server I got a recommendation to try Tarbooze Ka Thanda and it helped for the refreshment.Starting with the soup Murgh aur Dhaniya ki Gehni, one worthy soup to tickle your mind and stomach and get prepared for the dinner. Ordered Jalapeno Paneer Tikka, Kale Masale air subzi Ji seekh , Kesari Murgh Tikka, LA-Gee-Gee fish and Galouti Kebab from the appetizers and became a fan of La-Gee-Gee fish and a yummy Galouti Kebab. From the main course, we ordered Balti Murgh, Nasi Goreng, Sichuan Chicken Fried Rice and Steamed Rice where I have no complaints on any of the ordered dishes but the Sichuan CHicken Fried Rice alone is not as spicy as a Sichuan should be. People who expect mild spice in fried rice can go with it. Steamed rice with Balti Murgh went well with the combination and the level of spice is good for the taste buds. I personally liked the Nasi Goreng here too though this is not a typical Thai/Indonesian restaurant. Then we checked the menu again for the beverages and asked for Melon breeze and Kesar Lassi and my choice goes to Melon Breeze which I could have got along with the Tarbooze ka Thanda for refreshers :PAlong with these, I asked for one of my favorite of all time, the cold coffee. I have tried many great cold coffees and definitely, this is not one among them but yet it’s worth since it is having a good coffee flavor in it. Finally, the dessert, Citrus Cheese Cake, Long Standing Chocolate Vertigo, Mango Panna cotta Memory is what we ordered. the Long standing chocolate vertigo is the show stealer. Must try dessert of The Palette. Mango pannacotta is also a tasty dessert you would love to have.Overall,Ambiance – 4/5Taste – 4/5Service – 4/5VFM – Yes
A chic restaurant in the buzzling centre of Tnagar. It is nestled inside the Southern Crest Hotel. I would request the management to use sign boards as it was difficult to find the restaurant inside the hotel. Great selection of dishes. Kesari thandai is above average and was given without cooling. That was my only concern. Coming to the food, it was all ‘WoWs’. I never expected food to be that great inside this tiny restaurant. We ordered for Malai Broccoli and Butterflied Grilled Prawns. Both were top notch. Not even a single point to give a negative comment. The only downside is the waiters should be trained very properly. They are not even aware of the dishes and service took more time than expected. We were made to wait for almost 40 mins just to get the bill. Overall a good one.
Located on the main road, this place definitely needs a big sign board as it was very difficult to identify the place. In the zomato menu, we found the cuisine to be Italian and continental. But were disappointed when we found it to be an Indian cuisine. We had to wait for a long time to get our food as there were very few people in the restaurant. But the positive thing was that, the price was reasonable. And certain dishes was nice. And we also got a complimentary, because they made us wait for a while xP
The place is over priced and food is below average. Although the decor and ambience is good and staffs are friendly but the place is not worth for the money you spend.
