The Mayflower. Even from the outside looking in, the cafe feels like a place outside time, its own special feeling taking over you when you’re there. First impressions are important, and the Mayflower definitely makes a captivating one. Tasteful, distinctive decor is the norm here. The place feels wooden, rustic, yet at the same time, nothing is too distracting from the main agenda of a visit here… the food.Moving on to that – the food at the Mayflower is plated perfection. The French onion soup was delectable, perfect right down to the temperature, just right for drinking. It was very light, just the way a soup should be. There was a generous amount of vegetables in it, cooked well and frankly delicious (atleast for a veggie lover such as myself). There was zucchini, carrot, baby corn, and, obviously, onion along with French beans, and sliced mushrooms. The mushroom dumplings were steaming hot and extremely tasty – with three kinds of sauce for accompaniment, and paper thin skin, loaded with filling. The peri peri fries were a bit soft for my liking, but perfectly spiced. The chefs are great at presentation, and the portion size is gratuitous. If you’re looking to eat dinner here, don’t eat lunch… or you’re going to regret not being able to eat all the things you order! The bruschetta platter – the bruschettas had perfectly toasted bread, and great fillings (olives, tomatoes, mushrooms and cheese). If you can only have one starter I’d pick the crispy American corn – it’s an absolutely genius dish, laid on a bed of cabbage and decorated with some genius looking carrot flowers, and I had to restrain myself from eating so much of it because I still hadn’t gotten to the main course. As for drinks, the watermelon caprioska is pretty damn good, with a little bite of ginger and mint, very refreshing and a great accompaniment. The leprechaun margherita was perfect, sweet while still striking a great balance in the salty portions. For the main course, we had the chicken Khao Suey and the Veg Moon Fan Fried Rice. Both are unskippable dishes – the Khao Suey is literal heaven on a plate, served with nine kinds of topping (including roasted garlic, fried onions, peanuts, chopped spring onions… the list goes on.) The broth is rich, creamy, delicious, and it has two kinds of noodles – crispy and soft. The chicken chunks were soft and delicious, cooked to melt-in-the-mouth perfection. There’s a whole hard-boiled egg in there too, if all this wasn’t enough. Long story short, your taste buds will thank you after you eat this, but you’re going to have to hit the gym pretty hard. The Moon Fan fried rice is a simpler dish although not lacking in ingredients, with many vegetables, and three kinds of mushrooms. The rice is fragrant and well-spiced, steaming hot when it arrives, and the dish overall is a (much) healthier alternative to the Khao Suey.Overall, the Mayflower is an excellent, excellent choice whether it be for a quiet, luxurious dinner, a fun day out with friends, or even a family lunch, and I recommend checking it out whenever you are in the area, especially since a meal here definitely isn’t going to break the bank, with their family-friendly pricing.

here is a touch of uniqueness in the dishes, the vegetable dumpling mushroom soup started our journey. A clear soup, it had a spinach dumpling in it and it tasted yummy. Onion rings, crispy Lotus stem, Cajun paneer skewers ( felt a bit spicy hot for us), Mexicana nachos, chili basil vegetables bowl (removed the chili as it was hot!!), broccoli corn momo were delightful. Ranging from Rs.149 to Rs.199, a pretty decent fare for the location, quantity and ambience. My best was in the main course surprisingly and in the Khao-Suey Veg. A platter of noodles with Burmese yellow gravy ( simply yum yum yum) with assortment of add-ons – peanuts, mint, coriander, garlic chunks, chilli flakes, crispy onion, sweet sauce and lemon slices. We added everything except the lemon, and it was simply amazing. It is priced at Rs.299/- DO NOT MISS IT. chennaifocus.in

An old bungalow turned into a restaurant, Mayflower looks chic with white backgrounds and plants everywhere. We ordered Broccoli Soup which was not as creamy as expected, however tasted good. Lotus Stem was good to start with followed by Khao Suey and Thai Red Curry. Khao Suey and Thai Red Curry were good. If you are an average eater, two can share the main course if you have starters or a drink as the portions are quite generous. The Leprechaun Drink was also decent. Would love to go back to try their Masala Chai and Charcoal Latte.

Mayflower Café in T Nagar is located in a nice cool bungalow away from the maddening crowds. They have car parking for 3-4 cars and lots of bikes. Nice outdoor seating like the swinging seats keep you comfortable while you wait.On the inside, several rooms of the erstwhile bungalow are converted into dining rooms- spacing could be limited for large groups- advanced reservation recommended.Mayflower café serves a range of specialty starters and main course- wide range of choices for both vegetarian and non-vegetarian guests. We first ordered a juice- Pina nata colada- a fusion drink with pineapple and tender coconut water- with lots of raw pieces of pineapple fruit in included- tasted superb and gave a good start to the evening.Starters included onion rings, Kaju Paneer skewers, Corn Broccoli dumplings, Mexican nachos, chilli basil vegetables. Presentation was nice- a nice flower was cut out of a vegetable (radish)We also had a thin crust pizza. There were lot more options like burgers but we didn’t have more space left to try anything more.Khao suay Veg was the main veg dish we tried. It was noodles with gravy and lots of add-ons- very unique and signature dish of Mayflower.Desert was Orange Flambo Darsan- a signature dish with vanilla ice cream, honey, orange extractsKaushik Shankar was the chef in charge who has curated MayFlower café’s specialty menu. My non-veg eating friends had lot more options to try from. There were lots of books to read. Overall a nice spot for your outing with family or friends. On pricing front most items cost around INR 150-250, so a meal for two would cost around INR 1000-2000 depending on the order. enidhi.net

A real good experience is what we had this evening along with my blogger friends. The property is located bang on the main road with perfect parking facilities for 2/4 wheeler. I came to know that the first floor has the co-working space concept and the ground floor has this one of a kind restaurant. The interiors were intricately done by giving importance to each and every minute detail. This would be good for a family get together apart from hosting parties for your friends and colleagues. They have this swing in the lawn which I fell in love with as soon as I saw it. The walls were done beautifully with pictures/paintings. There were properties across the sections on the wall. The menu is curated my “Mad Chef” Koushik Shankar. We were 7 of us out of which 5 were vegetarian & 2 of us alone were Non-Vegetarian. What did we order?Peri peri wingsOnion RingsKaju Paneer Skewers Purple Chicken DimsumThree sauce – mustard, spring onion, soya chilli Crispy lotus stemCorn Broccoli dumplingsCharcoal prawn Dhimsum with wasabi mayoPanko fried chicken Mexican NachosChilli Basil VegetablesPina Nata ColadaOrange Flambo Darsan That was quite a few, isn’t it? What would I recommend?Honestly speaking, all of them but among the drinks, I would ask you not to miss Pina Nata Colada which is a fusion of Pineapple & Coconut. It tasted extra ordinary. To put it in other words, it was out of the world.Peri Peri wings tasted real good. The secret sauce that was used as the topping, did the magic. You would fall in love with Purple Chicken Dhimsum & Charcoal Prawn Dhimsum as they looked real attractive & tasted equally good. Both chicken & prawn were cooked to perfection. The wasabi mayo that was served with Prawn Dhimsum was amazing. The Panko fried chicken was of a different league altogether.Khao Suey Non-Veg is their specialty. It is served with boiled egg, chicken, noodles & 9 different ingredients which needs to be mixed together before having it. This gives the unique taste which you wouldn’t forget. The orange flambo darsan is also a “must have”. Ask then for it in specific and see the magic when it is served.

We found this place while shopping and checked in this place for a short eat in the evening. The Restaurant is located in Burkit Road, in an revamped Art Deco Bungalow. The ambience is cozy and pleasing. The Menu was interesting to look at, so we went through thoroughly and ordered the below. Checked in for a short eat and ended up ordering more yet there were some downsidesOur Order :Jamaican Paneer SkewersAssorted Veg BruschettaMezze PlatterSour Cream Onion FriesPanko Fried Chicken with Wasabi MayoMushroom DumplingDeep Purple Chicken Dim SumCold Bournvita FloatThe JAMAICAN PANEER SKEWERS is a carribbean style grilled paneer. The paneer wasn’t grilled properly, I reckon it wasn’t put on a grill, it was soggy, the veggies were crunchy and the masala was wet yet the flavour was good with some heat in it. The ASSORTED VEG BRUSCHETTA had three breads with different veg toppings and melted cheese on top sided with lettuce and olives. The Toppings were generous and flavours were good and fresh. The melted cheese covered the topping almost completely. The MEZZE PLATTER is a mediterranean style dish. The Platter didn’t have a wide spread of dips, just two where we expected more. The Pita Bread was bit on the crispier side. The Falafel was crunchy and tasted good. The platter was light and it was a delight! The SOUR CREAM ONION FRIES are french fries with sour cream onion powder sprinkled on top. The fries were light and crispy yet the flavour of the Sour Cream Onion didn’t have a punch. The PANKO FRIED CHICKEN with WASABI MAYO is a deep fried chicken. The Chicken was soft in the inside and and crispy on the outside. The outer layer of the panko bread crumb was fried to prefect golden brown colour. The wasabi mayo was good though we expected a pungent punch in it yet it was light compared to what we expected. The fried chicken was crunchy and the flavours were good. With the wasabi mayo dip it was excellent. The MUSHROOM DUMPLING were amazing in this line up. The filling was flavourful and generous. The outer sheet was so thin like a clear thin glass. The dumplings were cooked perfectly. The DEEP PURPLE CHICKEN DIM SUM, YES Purple Dumpling! Intrigued by the name we were excited to take a look. The Outer thin layer was in Deep Purple colour. Funky enough. The filling was generous and the chicken was tender and juicy. These Dumplings were sided with three different dips. A thoughtful way to not wasting it by giving it in as a common for both instead of separate spreads. The three dips were soy sauce, chilli vinegar and wasabi infused sauce. These were dips along with the dumplings were packed with flavours and was out of the park. The COLD BOURNVITA FLOAT gave us school days memories. The bournvita float is a bournvita milkshake toppped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Taking the first sip took us the nostalgic ride. Loved it beyond flavours. And do check the bill before paying. Our bill had orders which we haven’t ordered, the bill of other table was merged into ours. Raising it to the staff they corrected it yet they still owe an APOLOGY though. Overall the experience was good with food and the staff’s service was good. The ambience made us feel comfortable and warm. A must try restaurant in the city.

The food was amazing! The Khao seuy is a must try here. The service was great, the staff are available while not being intrusive. The ambience was good. The seating could be improved. The chairs were not very comfortable.
