Set in an opulent, palatial design which pays homage to Southern India’s grand empires, the ITC Grand Chola, Chennai overlooks verdant parks and gardens. Experience understated Indian hospitality in an exquisite property with a distinct personality.Best thing about this hotel is its infrastructure. Staff is very polite and rooms are also great and spacious. Food is expensive but considering the premium status of hotel, it is expectable. They have multiple restaurants and all of them offers great choices and cuisines. If you happened to stay in this hotel, make sure you don’t order a room service and instead visit the restaurant directly.

Practically empty, good cocktails, however it neither provides a 5 star ambiance nor is it particularly big.Another thing that needs to be kept in perspective here is the fact that i went on a Saturday night,a time when this place should be packed.
I had no idea till last evening, but Tranquebar is easily the best kind of Friday evening in the new, bar friendly Madras. Take it from old timers who have been just about everywhere and are bloody picky about where they will go twice! The ambience was fantastic – lighting not too bright or too dark; tables not too close or too far apart. The live music act was lovely – not too loud, not too quiet – just right for conversations with awkward pauses 😉 The food (we only had vegetarian) was 5 star quality, of course. Especially recommend the dumpling/steam bun/mushroom thing that I can’t remember the name of but was A-mazing.Last night, we paid a cover of 1800 rupees for unlimited drinks. I stuck to red wine and certainly milked the cover =) and NO HANGOVER! You know what that says about the wine =)And the service.
I reached at about 1030 pm expecting a noisy crowd that I have grown accustomed to in nearly all watering holes in Chennai . But I was pleasantly surprised. The place had just the right amount of people and had an air of exclusivity on offer. The host, Sukrit, immediately showed me to my table where a couple of friends were already waiting. The music was tight and not too overwhelming where you can’t hear the other person talk. This place is what a bar should be like. It straddles the line between a club and a bar extremely well. The food was interesting and very tasty. I think I’ve found a new Friday night haunt.
Went there for their very recent – ‘tranquevibe’ nights, apparently something new they’ve started on Fridays and Saturdays. Pretty good package for a 5 star hotel I must say. Loved the ambience! Very few places in Chennai where you can have a drink, a good conversation (music is not blaring, thank you very much!), good music and fantastic service. Needless to speak of the food which was pretty good, Ofcourse we only got to try the starters! But if you want to continue with a meal you got your options open. Special mention to the lady bartenders, awesome job!! 🙂
A lively bar in Chennai serving drinks which you won’t get elsewhere in town. The bar tenders like Monica, Lun and Anish have been churning out good cocktails at the bar. The bar is well stocked with Cointreau, Kahula, Hennessy, various vodkas, whiskeys and beers!A good place to spend an evening. Drinks are expensive here! But the ambience is worth the deal.
