It’s a restaurant lost in a crowded surrounding. It’s at the corner of the gw road but somehow it goes unnoticed. Ambience is ok but not a great experience
It’s been an eternity since we planned for this restaurant. Not quite known to public but somehow my dad found this out and kept on referring as Andhra Mahila Sabha restaurant. So searching for this restaurant was quite a herculean task. Only after visiting and finding out the name that it’s Durga Park, I could see the restaurant in Zomato.Nestled in the calmness of the Andhra Mahila Sabha, this restaurant is quite classy with vintage interiors, brass settings, nice seating and great food. Above all, ample space for car parking. We got a seat inside the straight last room. If you are a hand washer, you’ve to take the trouble of coming out of the restaurant to wash hands. Menu wasn’t quite exquisite but hot and spicy like typical Andhra food. We ordered Talumin chicken soup which tasted quite well with vegetables carefully cut and few pieces of chicken, Fish Vepudu was the best of the dish with pieces deep fried and tiny pieces of cashew everywhere with vegetables again neatly cut looking like a fish, Prawn pepper fry was quite okayish which didn’t give the flavor of prawn but that of pepper more. For main course we ordered mutton biryani which had a couple of uncooked pieces, but the taste of biryani was decent. Plain rice with Manchatti Meen Kuzhambu was divine. There is something with the way Andhra people use onions and the red chilies, which was brilliant. We ended up with Avalanche as dessert which was a modified version of falooda with just an extra scoop of ice cream. So it wasn’t that different a dessert in the end. constantscribbles.wordpress.com
One word for this place WORST! The waiter was always in a hurry. He almost snatched the menu cards from us after we had ordered. We had ordered thali meals. When each cup would be emptied he came and took them then and there like there weren’t enough vessels. The table cloth and napkin weren’t washed properly. The waiter has absolutely no manners and patience. He behaved like he was serving food to unprivileged for charity. The food was okay. I expected it to spicy since it was andhra meals but no it wasn’t quite as i expected. There is ample room for parking but i believe it is useless since not a lot of people come here to eat (I should have walked away when the place was empty). The ambiance is okay, its like old school south India. I think even the people staying at Raj Palace will not prefer eating here. I am definitely not going there again and you probably should’t too!
Durga Park is inside the Raj Palace Sundar. We are usually suspicious of restaurants inside hotels, and this reinforces that suspicion. There’s ample parking, which is pleasant. The hotel as a whole has an old world feel to it, lots of trees. The architecture feels like a throwback to old time South India. The restaurant itself is segmented into rooms, which is almost always a problem. The decor continues to be old school south India, and we liked the overall effect.Service was abominable. The waiters were very surly, poorly informed and took forever to get the food to the table. Getting attention was a massive battle.Food was just about average. A large amount of oil on all dishes. They have food across a few cuisines, but really, they were all sub par. The only pleasing thing was the size of the dessert portions.Pricing is reasonable. Or rather, would have been reasonable for decent service and food. For this, well, perhaps no price is low enough. Overall Conclusion: perhaps while staying at the hotel, the convenience of eating here would trump the issues. Otherwise, not really worth the bother
Hosting a party isn’t that easy but this place is simply off the hook if you choose the rooftop for a small crowd. The speakers aren’t great but it did pull off well. The breeze, illumination and sumptuous food adds to my list of likings. I did enjoy moreover the guests were immensely pleased and that’s the beauty of it all.
Awesome food ,Nice place,Good quantity,Quite place,Nice service,
Have been to this restaurant a couple of times however it got into my head to review it only now. The setup and ambience is quite good. The seating is divided in the form of multiple alcoves along with some routine restaurant seating. The alcoves do serve to provide a level of privacy that families sometimes desire. We tried out varied items like veg as well as chicken manchow soup, schezwan chicken fried rice, chopsuey, rumali roti and mixed veg curry, veg biriyani etc. There is nothing remarkable or outstanding about the food in general and nothing disappointing either. A safe place for a decent dinner. The chopsuey like in most restaurants is a disappointment as it is a tad too sweet. It also lacked essential ingredients like bean sprouts and more a stir fry of some basic veggies mixed with sweet sauce and tossed with the crispy noodles. The surly but efficient waiters would do better to smile a bit more.In Short a safe dinner bet but sometimes overtly so.
