Heard about this place from a friend and thought of giving it a try. It was really good and I’m glad I chose to go there. We started with their signature dish – The colour changing noodles – they were awesome just as expected! The soup was full of flavor and we really liked it. In starters we had chicken wings, chilli fish and crispy lotus stem which was really good. In desserts we had Japanese cheese cake and tiramisu which melted on tongue! We really enjoyed the dinner their and looking forward for our next visit.

Hawkersan is a newly opened concept place at MRC Nagar and I am so glad to have come across this place! The ambience is set in a way to give you a calm feeling along with the Asian decor❤️As you enter this place, the staffs so courteously welcome you and make you feel comfortable. Hawkersan is one of the first restaurant in Chennai to introduce the 7 course meal options! This is popular in other countries but India is still picking up with the trend and Hawkersan is a pioneer in this category!First off we were served the glass noodles salad which had the colour change gala happening ❤️ this awakened the curiosity in me and enjoyed it change from blue to red like a child!Next up we were served hot and sour chicken soup which was lip smacking good!Moving on to starters, we had tried their dimsums, chilli beef, pepper prawns and everything literally melts in your mouth! The meats were cooked to perfection served along with the best sauces and flavours❤️ one of the best things about this place is you get to have the wholesome experience with variety of dishes whilst not feeling too bombarded with food due to the portion size!Next up for main course we tried the nasi goreng and Thai red curry with Jasmine rice ❤️ the nasi goreng was an absolute stunner! It’s a must try for anyone visiting here. Finally for desserts we had the Milo tiramisu and Japanese cheesecake ❤️ I can safely say it was devoured in seconds and Milo always brings back you childhood memories giving the total wholesome experience at hawkersanOverall an amazing experience and will be back soon again! It an amazing place to visit with your partner or family

A relatively new player in the Pan Asian cuisine scene, is Hawkersan, which is located in Somerset Greenways Hotel. The vibrant and colourful interiors, from the beautifully painted walls to the furniture that adds a funky touch, really stands out as you enter. We started off our meal with some Tom Yum soup which was a tad salty and Prawn Curry Soup which was quite creamy and flavourful. Moving on to starters, we had the Crispy Lotus Stem, which could have been spicier and a Red Snapper, which was a let down as it lacked freshness and was a little bland.Next came the Dimsums and bao. Was quite happy with both the Mushroom and Lamb Bao which were super soft and went well with the stuffing. The Lamb Bao could have had a little more stuffing. For the dimsums we tried Chicken, Pork and Prawn Dimsum, all of which were quite the usual. The coating was a little thick and the Prawn Dumpling was uncooked. For the mains, we went with a Red Thai Curry with Jasmine Rice, which were spot on and a Char Kway Teow which was the usual stir fried noodles dish. Also had the Fish in Oyster Sauce which had subtle flavours and was quite good.Moving on the part that we were most excited for, the desserts. All of the desserts in their menu looked really appealing hence went for all of them. Favourites out of the ones we tried were the Thai Jewel, which is unique one with a sago pudding, mango jelly and water chestnut. Also enjoyed the Milo Tiramisu which was laced with a nice coffee flavour with a hint of Milo. Could have been better if it had a bit more Milo flavour in it. The Japanese Cheesecake was quite average and the Chocolate Dimsums were too chewy in texture which could have been a really nice one if the coating was thinner.Service was prompt and attentive.Overall, a place that looks beautiful with great service but which only needs some tweaking with the food.

This is a new Asian place lodged inside Somertset greenways. Review breakup – Food -3/5 Ambiance -4/5 Menu -3/5 Pricing -3/5 Service – 3.5/5The place was very spacious and well lit. Loved the vibrant ambiance, colorful interiors and popping graffiti on the walls. The seating was also done up so well, comfortable, cozy and classy. The Menu had a lesser range of items, also the variants within the items were very less.We started off our meal with two soups – Tom yum chicken – which was a bit salty and then followed by Thai curry based prawn soup, I loved this one, thick and yumm, right kind of coconut flavours, texture of the soup complimented the crunchy texture of the prawn well. For starters we had – Lotus stem – It was crispy, and very tangy. If it was a little more spicy, it would have been an hit, this was decent. The next one was roasted beef – the meat was very hard and chewy, the flavors were good. This was followed by red snapper – this was very disappointing – as the fish wasn’t a fresh catch, it was chewy, and the flavors in the sauce was not very well infused in the fish. Among the dimsums and bao – We tried Chicken, prawn and pork dimsums. The dip that came along was good. All the stuffing inside was cooked well, the dimsum’s outer layer was so thin, and opened instantly in many pieces, which was a bit of a disappointment. If variants like chili oil dimsum, pan tossed dimsums were present in the menu, it will be more enchanting. We had the mutton and mushroom bao, the mushroom one was spicy, loved it, mutton filling was good and the meat was fresh too, in both the cases if the quantity of the stuffing was more it would have been even better. For mains we had Thai red curry – chicken with steamed rice ! This one was made to perfections ! loved everything about it ! too good, a must try ! Then came in the Kway teow seafood noodle, it was dry, the flat noodle was smooth and the flavours were good. This one was decent. Fish in oyster sauce – fish was succulent and yummy, but the drawback was there was no oyster flavor in it, it was more like a stir fry in chilly garlic based sauce. Desserts – Mango sago pearl with water chestnuts – I loved this one, the texture was so good, and right amount of sweetness. The cheesecake with vanilla ice cream tasted good – but the textre was more like sponge cake, Chocolate dimsum was okayish – would have loved it if the dimsum was filled with chocolate sauce. Finally we had Milo tiramisu – the mascarpone cheese was yummy ! but I barely got any milo flavor.Bottom line – there is more scope for improvement in terms of food and the menu.

This Pan Asian Restaurant is the newest addition to the Somerset’s block of Luxury Service Apartments. The place is breathtaking and boasts a rich, chic and a contemporary look with a splash of greens, yellows and reds! It is a hassle-free, fine dining restaurant indeed. Their pre-set menus are very promising and are currently the talk of the town. This was indeed, the drive and the pull that I needed! To start off, we were served with the salad of the day. I definitely enjoyed both – prawn and chicken. It was a beautiful burst of flavours. We quickly moved on to the second course, which was the gorgeous Lemon Coriander Soup! We tried the Chicken I could also feel the flavours linger on my palate for a minute or two! For the Third course, we had an option of Spring Rolls and Wontons. The Chicken Spring Rolls were perfectly crafted and very delicate. They were flavourful and tasted excellent. The Wontons were great – crunchy and crispy!Moving on to the next course, we tried the Crispy Tofu Bao and Chilli Fish Bao, served in bamboo baskets over a banana leaf. I personally loved the Tofu variant for its freshness, taste and crunch. The Fish variant was no less either. The buns were also warm, smooth and delicate. Next came the much awaited Satay. The Chicken variant was soft, juicy and was brilliant with a hint of peanut sauce! The Vegetarian one had a beautiful, yummy sauce on it, but, I really expected a better choice of veggies. We moved on the main courses and I slurped down some brilliant Chicken Khow Suey! I loved this one! But, I found the lemongrass flavour to be a bit overpowering though! The Pepper Fried Rice and Prawn Kung Pao Curry are not to be missed either. The prawns were mildly flavoured and well-cooked.We were almost full but had one last course to complete – Desserts. These looked quite interesting. Tim Tom Grob, the name by itself is super catchy and got me curious. One spoon and I was impressed. It is a Thai dish made with coconut milk and pomegranate. It felt like a coconut-y custard though. The Japanese Cheesecake with Vanilla Ice cream was the clear winner. It felt like a beautifully made ghee/tea cake, considering our palate. Nevertheless, it was rich and tasted brilliant. This was quite a sumptuous experience with some brilliant, scrumptious food. Are you ready to indulge yourself in a 7 course? If not, you have the options of 4 course and 5 course as well. They also have a few signature, chef’s special dishes in the À la carte menu!

I love Asian food and I’m definitely adding Hawkersan to the list of my favourite restaurants! The ambiance and decor is bright and beautiful. I love the art work on the wallI tried the 7 course meal which consists of a salad, soup, 3 different appetizers, main and a dessert Everything was delicious, no complaints! My personal favourite were the #soupynoodles and the dessert – #thaijewel (SOO GOOOD)Definitely worth a visit!

New restaurant in town, just 2 months old, located in a calm neighborhood away from the maddening crowds.Tried their seven course dinner recently and it was a great experience. Began with Thai Som Tam salad, made from raw papaya and mango.Next was a soup-we are vegetarians so our veg option was a thin tomato soup, poured directly into the bowl that had chilly and few other taste enhancers.Veg spring rolls rolled in next as appetizers.Eating soft steamed bao buns with vegetables inside was kind of first for me. Served graciously in a nicely made bamboo basket.Next was grilled baby corn tossed with saucesMain course had two options to chose from- Noodle soup or Rice & curry. I opted for Noodle soup and my wife tried Rice & Curry. Both were amazing, served in adequate quantity. Good thing is that only main course was in decent quantity while other items were just enough to taste and build up appetite for main course- this way, though there were lots of items to try, we could try it all without having to waste any food.Final was desert- had to chose from a chocolate based and another coconut based one- went with coconut option- chestnuts and fruits soaked in creamy coconut milkMenu had 9 items, so I thought it is 9 course meal, but desert and main course had two options each to chose from, so essentially it is a 7 course meal. The ‘Or’ sign was missing but I was told Menu is being updated for clarity. So no complaints. Menu might vary slightly each day I am told. You also have option of choosing a less expensive 5 or 4 course meal. Drinks can be ordered extra from a separate drinks menu. Including one or two simple drinks with the meal would have been great.Ambiance is great, restaurant is part of social group. Valet/self parking is available. HawkerSan board was little difficult to spot from the main road as it is inside the hotel building, but you can follow the map and get into Somerset building without any issue. Restaurant customers don’t get access to building elevator or staircase from basement parking, so I had to walk up the ramp two floors from basement 2 bike parking- no big deal as they offer valet parking as well. Do try their carefully curated dinner. enidhi.net
