Located in 2nd lane beach, much crowded street because of small private offices and opposite to Burma Bazar, street will be always busy so better avoid 4 wheelers.Being next building to my office used to have food twice in a week, most of the time take away, my favorites here are special Parotta, Appam and pepper paya for breakfast and dinner. Some times my cravings for spicy Biriyani ends up here, serves hot and fiery Biriyani.Evening samosa and tea not to missed out.If I go home early my back pack will be hot with Paya, Parotta, Biriyani and Appam to my family.
A decent find. I was hearing nice reviews about this place from my colleagues and one day me and 2 of my friends planned to hit this place for a weekend lunch. The place was almost full and I could already see people munching their Briyanis. We ordered gobi manchurian, veg fried rice, Chapathis, chicken masala, mutton Briyani for the 1st round. They served everything together in 5-7 minutes of time. Everything was decent and freshly prepared. But I could feel the old chicken in newly made chicken masala. Otherwise everything was good.mutton Briyani was okayish. For desserts we had Nalaila phirni and falooda. Both were really awesome and a must try. Overall its a nice place except for the stored chicken. Service was quite slow after the food was delivered. I have to keep on looking for the waiter all the time.
The national spl chicken biryani is a must have. The ambience is not great but the food I’d decent. The chettinard chicken is good to have for gravy with plain rice or naan
How to order food
I have heard so much about their biryani but never got a chance to taste it. Today when I was in the area, I didn’t think twice before walking towards National :)Orders: National spl mutton biryani: Beautifully fried mutton pieces with perfectly cooked rice. The rice was a bit tangy but tasted good nonetheless. Spice levels were mild and I found fried curry leaves in it which added a nice aroma.Spl Falooda: Yummy! Had good amount of sabji seeds.Vanilla milkshake with ice cream: Thick and tasty.Cassata: Fairly bigger than the usual ones with extra nuts 🙂 A/c seating is on the 1st floor. Service was quick and efficient. I would have liked the place to be a bit well lit and clean but it wasn’t very bad.Pricing: the bill was ₹500/- appx and I would say that it’s value for money.
Comfort food zone. I remember having a some warm crab meat soup, prawn biryani and vanjaram fry on a rainy day back in Oct 2004.. it used to be so nice to visit that place but quality has come down drastically and ambiance is more stinky.
