Being a meat lover, I do sometimes crave for vegan meals and chose this restaurant for a nice south indian meals to quench my afternoon hunger after an extended shopping at Parrys. Our expectations were minimal, not for an exotic meal but a simple traditional meals with dhal, sambar, rasam, buttermilk, poriyal, avital, pappad and pickle. I ordered the South Indian Meals (Limited Rice) and my wife ordered vegetable fried rice with Gobi Manchurian. The rice topped with pappad was served on a banana leaf cut to fit the plate and the remaining dishes were served in small bowls: Sambhar, vaththa kozhambhu, keerai aviyal, ghose poriyal, dhal, rasam, buttermilk and one milk sweet. The Sambhar tasted ok but the vaththa kozhambhu was lifeless. Poriyal and aviyal were good. There was too much oil in the fried rice as well as the Gobi Manchurian. Both were spiceless. The portion of rice was ok for one person but I felt heavy after the meal. I believe they have added baking soda to the rice to restrict the intake quantity.Overall it was a bad experience with Ramakrishna Lunch Home for spending ₹220/- for a meal and definitely not recommended.

It’s one of those old school places which managed to stand straight amongst the waves of new age cafeterias and ever popping pushkarts. The place has been revamped recently in red and white with Aircon and upgraded interiors.Orders: I was dying to have Vadacurry and that’s what I ordered even before I decided on what to have.Since we were late, they didn’t have idiyappam. So, went with Idly and Vadacurry. Sadly for me, the Vadacurry was below average but the other sides were more than satisfactory. Loved the drumstick sambhar and all the chutneys.Filter coffee was decent but light (didn’t bother cause we were running late). I was slightly disappointed that it was served in cup n saucer set instead of our Davara set.Pricing: 129/- for 2 plates idly with Vadacurry (5pcs) and a coffee.#valfoodtrail #breakfastdiaries #parrys #chennai1
