The Pavilion- a ghost of Christmas past One would always remember the Christmas spread of Residency at the Pavilion with its innumerable dishes, turkey and old world charm.. Oh, how the mighty have fallen!! The lunch buffet we had last Monday was a far cry from the residency of old. Service and Hospitality – 1/5 Clueless staff, poor service and a general lackadaisical attitude made me wonder if I was really at Coimbatore’s famed ‘Residency’ or some cheap downmarket knockoff. Waiters were slow to respond and didn’t show the courtesy expected from a hotel of this calibre. Food -3/5The food was quite average. The starters were dull and uninspired, be it the tawa fish or the make-your-own stir fry (tried the squid, lamb etc). Mutton kola balls were a good try but you (Yeah, you Residency chef!!) gotta take a leaf out of the Valarmati’s cookbook. Mangalorean mutton was a messy red hodgepodge of poorly cooked mutton pieces. The saving grace was the Chicken biriyani , which was sumptuous, flavorful and tasty. Dessert was nothing to write home about. Drink – 1/5 They didn’t have an ‘Old Fashioned’ whiskey even though it was on the very limited menu. Ditto for Baileys. Slow service added to the poor overall experience. Finally, to add insult to injury (after paying an exorbitant 1.3k/head ) , they failed to inform us until 15 minutes after we started , the closing time of the buffet. A sad, sad story of a once great hotel slowly sliding into mediocrity!
Excellent spread of starters , main courses and desserts. Very good options for vegetarians. Live counters with choice of veg or non veg available as well. The ambience of the restaurant was very nice, warm and inviting. Veg pasta salad and wine beet root were wonderful starter items for vegetarians. Paneer starter was well balanced with soft paneer and right mix of spices. Kudiravali sadham was a surprising delight in the main course. Lacha paratha and butter nan were made to order and were very soft. So many choices of pastries to pick from the desserts sections but my favorite was the strawberry mousse. Fig and Honey ice cream sounded promising but could have been better. Overall a very good experience and worth another visit.
The never ending lunch menu at pavilion !! The best high class lunch experience. 1. Service – perfect and best of all the star hotels 2. Taste – well experience cook for all cousins gives an outstanding taste. 3. Ambiance- no words calm and beautiful post renovation great look!!4. Price – costly for the best and fresh delight.
Firstly service was very slow ( even when it was not crowded) . Also they initially did not honor Zomato Gold discount their reason being we ordered non alcoholic drinks. Later they gave a discount for only 1 drink. Altogether not a good experience for a place like residency.
Good food and a big spread buffet. But very expensive. 1100 per personQuality is very good and ambiance also is good. But at this price there are many equally good options
It was awesome place in d town . Interior Wes very nice . We visited for drinks only .nice service and friendly staff. But one suggestion ur side dishes was very saggy. Totally it was good . We I’ll come back again.
