Had gone to Chama gaucha with friends for dinner. The place is poolside and has a spectacular city view from the rooftop. The fresh breeze and atmosphere makes it quite peaceful and tranquil. The service was also nice. Overall a great place for a quite romantic dinner & to enjoy drinks with friends.
In this day and age where globalization has literally made every cuisine and every flavour accessible for the modern diner, there still seem to be far fetched regions whose food hasn’t got the recognition it deserves. Prime examples for the case has to be the South American continent which even though flaunts such a beautiful amalgamation of traditions and cultures rooting from different ethicities, has somehow never received the limelight it needed. Bringing to light the same foreign flavours, Chama Gaucha at Radisson Hitech has curated a glorious menu sporting delicacies starting from the barbeque pits of Brazil going all the way to Mexico and its delightfully spicy cuisine. And what better place to enjoy the dainty dishes than an open air rooftop adorned with magical lighting and a poolside ambience!Starting out the dinner was the house special Wild Mushroom Soup which was an absolute flavour bomb. The bold, earthy flavour from the mushrooms in the foamy, creamy consistency hit just the right notes in the breezy evening and with the additional side of some sauted mushrooms and garlic bread, the experience became all the more delightful. The restaurant also provided an assortment of in-house baked breads which paired great with the course and just doubled the fun. Rice and Cheese Balls and Coxa de Frango were the appetizer choices for the night, each of which delivered incredibly on the taste buds. While it was the crisp texture filled with ooey-gooey cheese which sealed the deal for the vegetarians, the Coxa de Frango was just the right dish for the non-vegetarian counterparts which provided a glimpse of the stunning world of Brazilian barbeque. Loosely translating to chicken thighs, the dish was a Brazilian-Portuguese preparation of exactly the same, sporting this juicy skin-on chicken grilled with this incredible spicy-tangy marinate which was served with a multitude of side sauce like Tomato Pineapple Dip and Pepper Coulis just to name a few.The mains kept the momentum going with their famed Sizzlers flaunting the Cottage Cheese Sizzler with Veg Medley for the veg and the Chicken Tikka Sizzler with Potato Wedges for the non veg, each of which came with a side serving for fiery, hot Mexican rice. With a massive portion size capable of catering to two, the flavours for both the veg and non veg sizzlers ran somewhat parallel with almost the same spices. Being a lover of heat, the best part of the dish for me undoubtedly became the Mexican Rice which had loads of Cayenne and Paprika to add to the kick.Desserts however brought the otherwise breezing show to a halt as the course couldn’t really keep up the expectations set during rest of the service. Both the serving of Tiramisu and Coconut Pudding had their own set of flaws with the Tiramisu having the ladyfingers soaked unevenly in a bad Espresso which directly contributed to the bad taste and the Coconut Pudding having too much of cornflour contributing to its disastrous, slimy texture. The service too here at Chama Gaucha wasn’t something spectacular and was at best average. The service staff was extremely clumsy and didn’t keep track of what was going on the tables at all. The staff didn’t take care of even the most basic of amenities, be it for a glass of water or even cutlery for that matter. In a nutshell, the place does provide a great concept and the menu works synonymously with the ambience. A few tweaks to the some menu items as well as a better staff training regimen would land the place in just the right spot.
