I was recently here for the re-launch of their menu. The new menu includes pan-asian along with their authentic Thai dishes. They had the menu set for us, for the lunch. We started with soup and salads.Soup :It was Tom yum gai, which was a non-veg soup. It was very intense in flavors.Salads :Yum mamuang – it’s spicy mushroom with mint and crushed roasted rice. I really liked it. It had a unique tangy flavor to it.Yasai itame – grilled vegetables and bean sprouts in sesame oil and soy sauce. It was good too.Appetizers :Three different veg and non-veg appetizers were serves in platters separately.Vegeterian – veg appetizer platter included honey chilli lotus stem, panko black pepper tofu and Thai corn cake. Chilli lotus stem is one of my all time favorite dishes. I loved it here too.Non-vegetarian – non-veg appetizer platter included crab dumplings, Satay koi and wok tossed prawns in hunan sauce. I really liked all of them.
Thai pavilion – OMG!!!If I had to select five best meals of my life, then my Sunday brunch at Thai Pavilion will surely give a tough competition. I recently had a chance to try their revamped menu which now also includes Pan-Asian and Oriental cuisines along with their famous Thai dishes. The place has notably beautiful ambiance and quick, methodical service, so let’s not drag much on it and move straight to food.We began with delicious Tom Yum Je soup which had beautifully sliced and rolled vegetables with fragrant and herbs-filled broth. For Salad, we had the Yum Mamuang (loosely translates to Thai Green Mango salad). It had sweet, tangy, sliced green mangoes, water chestnuts, mushroom, and zesty mint flavor all of which married quite well on my palate. We also had the Yasai Itame (translated to Stir Fry Vegetables in Japanese). I liked the sprouts and grilled vegetables covered in soya sauce and sesame oil but personally leaned towards the more upbeat Yum Mamuang salad.Moving on to the appetizers, we had the Honey Chili Lotus Stem a quintessential dish of Pan-Asian restaurants and a dish you cannot afford to go wrong with, and neither did Thai Pavilion. I thoroughly enjoyed the crunchy, crispy lotus stems glazed in the sweet-and-spicy sauce. I also really liked the Panko Black pepper Tofu and the Thai Corn Cake which offered a variety when compared to routine Oriental appetizers. One cannot imagine to sit in an Asian restaurant and not order Dim Sums and neither did we 😛 The Assorted Veg Dim Sums were an absolute treat to have, the filling was tasty and the buns were steamed to perfection. For mains, we had the Spicy Tofu with bell peppers and Thai herbs and Thai Green Curry to go along with Yaki Udon Noodles and sticky Jasmine Rice. I devoured most of it except for the Tofu which had a little weird caramel pudding-like consistency. The desserts were the true star of the meal for me. Let’s begin with the Tub Tim Grob (translates to Crunchy Ruby in Thai) is one of the most popular summer desserts in any Thai eateries. It also goes by the name “Red Rubies in Coconut Milk” as the crunchy and chewy water chestnut rubies covered in tapioca flour are served with chilled coconut milk and ice cubes. It was very light and extremely refreshing. The Litchi Ice cream was no less with exceptional flavors and smooth, creamy texture. I also liked the Apple Tofu, which was poached, and peeled apple glazed with caramelized sugar. In conclusion, the place is set to take you on a tasty, lip-smacking ride along with beautiful Thai and Pan-Asian flavors, so simply buckle-up and enjoy it.
Absolutely high orders of expectation arises with the name Taj and when its relauch of Taj Deccan’s Oriental restaurant, stakes are definitely high. I was invited for the relaunch of Thai pavilion and got to know that apart from Thai ,they will also serve Pan Asian and Oriental dishes. Pan Asian being my favorite cuisine, I was eager for tasting what they had in store.AMBIENCE (5/5) : With dim lighting and red tones of artifacts on subtle background and beautiful chandeliers, the place definitely gives you the feel of fine dining space.FOOD (5/5) : We were served with welcome drink ‘spicy guava ‘ which was really good. With the red chilli powder on the brim, this guava drink was so refreshing.Tom yum gai soup : The soup was so good.It was bit high on chilli ,which might be a downside for non spice eaters. But for me ,as I love hot food, this one was absolutely delicious. This thai soup with pulled chicken, cucumber, red chilli, beans and cauliflower is a must try.In salads we were served yasai itame and yam mamnang . Yasai Itame was a spicy vegetable salad and yam mamnang was raw mango and mushroom salad. yam mamnang was my favorite and yummy salad.Next up was satay kai , crab dumplings and hunan prawn . Satay kai and crab dumplings were decent. My favorite would be the hunan prawns. I am absolutely no lover of prawns but this one was smell free and tasted delicious.Assorted veg dimsums and non veg dimsums ( fish ,chicken , prawn ) were all equally mouthwatering and tasted great. The presentation of Assorted veg dimsums was the star.Chicken bao : The chicken Bao was cooked well ,though it could be better with little bit less on sweetness.Yaki udon noodles was served with stir fried pink salmon in ginger soy sauce: the yaki udon noodles was cooked well and the taste was enhanced by the ginger soy sauce . The noodles was topped by the stir fried pink salmon which was well cooked though I felt bland and no salt. I am not sure if it has to be prepared that way but it did not appeal to my palate without salt .Up next was Thai green curry with Jasmine rice which was yet another scrumptious main course. I loved the basil leaves aroma from the Thai curry and jasmine rice was too good to go along.Last but not the least the desserts. I think words will be less to admire their desserts. Being a dessert lover,I have tried quit lot of them, but rarely I have encountered such innovative, flavourful and rich desserts. The desserts had ,tub tim grub , apple tofu and litchi icecream . The tub tim grub , liquid in consistency served in a whole coconut shell ,this was made of coconut milk and was so rich in taste. This went so well with the apple tofu which was a caramalised dessert and both these desserts tasted exorbitantly good when combined with litchi icecream which was served in a serving tray with dry ice .The fumes gave an eye catching presentation to the whole dessert. This place is a must visit for all asian food lovers .With their newly curated menu ,they are bound to make you fall in love with their food .
