This is a cheap restaurant. Biriyani isn’t that bad though. Mainly kerala dishes are available here. Fans are not properly placed. Bad amvience.
A small restaurant in the basement near Secunderabad Railway station. Ordered Fish Mulakillitathu( typical kerala dish) . It was so spicy that I really enjoyed the curry, it was worth spending time travelling to have a meal there. Fish curry +Rice+ Fish fry was for 200 rupees. Mallus out there in Secunderabad its a must visit place to activate your tastebuds!!!
The name is very apt, a gem inside a crowded station. They serve mostly Maliyali dish and the reason why I went there was to eat Appam and end up eating shark curry with appam. It was a pretty good combo.
They provide the best kerala dishes in the city. They have good meals, prawns, squid, puttu, paratha and all. Only one concern is their cleanliness. If they were good in that front too i will give them 4.5 or 5. They are pretty good taste wise !!!!
My rating is for the food. The ambience is normal. A neat place with delicious Kerala food. Fried fish was yum. It was easy for us to order in a proper way since we have a Mallu friend in our gang. 😀
Iam writing this review purely based on the food they serve here. This place is right opposite the Secunderabad railway station. They serve Malayali cuisine. The ambience isn’t good, the service is fine and the food is ok. I usually order Appams and Chicken Ularthiyadu. The oil content is a bit high. There is a genuine serving of chicken and sauted onions. Koondhal is also a good option but sometimes its a bit chewy. If you go there on Sundays you can order the Kappa biryani. This place is not harsh on your pockets. They should definitely think about revamping the place in terms of ambience and overall outlook.
If you don’t mind eating in an ordinary ambience and crave for Kerala food then this is the right place for you. Those who are so particular about hygiene better look for another place because the wash area may not be to your standards. An OK place to have appam, idi appam, Kerala meals, etc. That is Gem and expect nothing more.
