Unbelievable taste . Sunday morning went to try my luck, shop owner was kind to take me in.(Half and hour to open) you will not get a better Kalakand in Hyderabad. Missed the Puri sabsi, will soon have and post pictures.Sunday open till 3 (In summer)Winter (all day)
A 40 year old eatery right in the middle of numerous jewellery shops with few chairs and tables inside and a counter on which all the items are neatly displayed. The place gives the decades old feel thanks to the setup and its location in one of the charminar lanes close to the Agra sweets. It is very well known amongst the locals for the taste which has been passed down to the successive generations.I got to taste the food from here on a visit to someone’s place who has been residing in Charminar since decades. Head over heels with the food, especially the gajar ka halwa, I requested them to direct me to the the place. I was shocked as this would be the last place from where I would expect such good quality food to come from. There is warmth both about the place and the food. The menu is limited both in terms of quantity and variety but utmost care is taken with regard to quality and hygiene.Coming to the food. They serve the most delicious Gajar Ka Halwa(but only in season). Very rich halwa made out of pure desi ghee which melts in the mouth and loads of sliced cashews and pistas on top. Drool!! A 6/5 :DClose to 5 kgs of halwa is made each day and it gets over in hours. For Samosas, this is one of the two places in Hyderabad I did go to when samosa-hungry. 🙂 Another awesome dish they serve here is the poori and aloo ki sabzi. The sabji is very good- not too hot and amazingly delicious and the pooris are not oily like the ones we get at the bandis. There are other items on the menu but these mentioned above are surely the stars. A place worth both- one’s time and money.
